MISSION STATEMENT: THE SURGICAL CRITICAL CARE PROGRAM DIRECTORS SOCIETY IS DEDICATED TO PROVIDING THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF CRITICAL CARE EDUCATION AND TRAINING TO THE NEXT GENERATION OF INTENSIVISTS FOCUSED ON CRITICALLY ILL SURGICAL PATIENTS. SECTION 2.1 TO ACHIEVE OUR MISSION THE SCCPDS SHALL BE DEDICATED TO: A. PROMOTING THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF SURGICAL CRITICAL CARE TRAINING B. PROVIDING ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT TO PROGRAM DIRECTORS ON SURGICAL CRITICAL CARE EDUCATION, TRAINING AND ACCREDITATION. D. ENCOURAGING RESEARCH TO IMPROVE THE EDUCATION AND TRAINING OF INTENSIVISTS WHO MANAGE CRITICALLY ILL SURGICAL PATIENTS. E. REPRESENTING THE INTERESTS OF THE SOCIETY TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS, INDIVIDUALS AND GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES OR REGULATORY BODIES.

SAFAS- SURGICAL CRITICAL CARE AND ACUTE CARE SURGERY FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION SERVICE IS A NATIONAL ON-LINE WEB-BASED APPLICATION SERVICE FOR SURGICAL AND EMERGENCY MEDICINE TRAINEES LOOKING TO CONTINUE THEIR TRAINING IN THE AREAS OF SURGICAL CRITICAL CARE (SCC) OR ACUTE CARE SURGERY (ACS).(1) SCC TRAINING PROGRAMS ARE ONE-YEAR TRAINING EXPERIENCES SPONSORED BY THE ACCREDITATION COUNCIL ON GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION (ACGME) AND ACS TRAINING PROGRAMS ARE TWO-YEAR TRAINING EXPERIENCES JOINTLY SPONSORED BY THE ACGME AND THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR THE SURGERY OF TRAUMA.


THE RESEARCH AWARD WILL BE GIVEN ANNUALLY TO RECOGNIZE FELLOWS IN SURGICAL CRITICAL CARE (SCC) AND ACUTE CARE SURGERY (ACS) FOR SIGNIFICANT RESEARCH ENDEAVORS AND CONTRIBUTIONS.
