CONSTELLATION'S ELECTRIC IMPULSES SEASON THAT BEGAN IN SPRING 2021 EXTENDED THROUGH NOVEMBER 2022. ORIGINALLY DESIGNED TO BE ENTIRELY VIRTUAL, CONSTELLATION USED A DYNAMIC FOUR-CAMERA SETUP TO FILM FOUR FULL-SCALE PRODUCTIONS IN OUR INTIMATE BLACK BOX THEATRE AND STREAM THEM TO HOUSEHOLDS THROUGHOUT THE DC AREA AND BEYOND. AS COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS EASED, WE WERE DELIGHTED TO BE ABLE TO INVITE AUDIENCES BACK TO THE THEATRE TO WATCH LIVE IN-PERSON PERFORMANCES FOR OUR FINAL TWO SHOWS, MOON MAN WALK AND MYSTICISM & MUSIC. CONSTELLATION UNITED WITH MANY OTHER DC-AREA THEATRES TO REQUIRE MASKING AND PROOF OF VACCINATION FOR AUDIENCE MEMBERS, AS WELL AS THEATRE STAFF AND PERFORMERS. (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)MOON MAN WALK (IN-PERSON PERFORMANCES AUGUST 14-22, 2021)JAMES IJAMES'S SWEET, SOULFUL, AND OFTEN SURPRISING TALE FOLLOWS SPENCER, A LIBRARIAN AND ASPIRING WRITER WHO RETURNS TO HIS BOYHOOD HOME IN PHILADELPHIA AFTER THE SUDDEN DEATH OF HIS DEVOTED SINGLE MOTHER ESTHER. THERE, HE STUMBLES UPON A LETTER THAT SHATTERS THE ELABORATE FANTASY ESTHER HAD CONCOCTED CONCERNING THE WHEREABOUTS OF HER SON'S ESTRANGED FATHER. WITH THE HELP OF PETRUSHKA, A FREE-SPIRITED WOMAN HE MEETS ON THE PLANE, SPENCER EMBARKS ON A MAGICAL JOURNEY THROUGH TIME AND SPACE TO CONFRONT THE MYSTERIES OF HIS PAST. AS IT TRANSPORTS US TO THE MOON AND BACK, MOON MAN WALK REMINDS US THAT EVEN IN THE DARKEST CORNERS OF THE UNIVERSE, LOVE AND LIGHT PERSIST.MYSTICISM & MUSIC (IN-PERSON PERFORMANCES OCTOBER 14-NOVEMBER 7, 2021)A MULTIDISCIPLINARY GROUP EMBARKS ON A CONSTELLATION FIRST: AN ORIGINAL STORY DEVELOPED COLLABORATIVELY WITH A DIVERSE COMPANY OF ARTISTS. MYSTICISM & MUSIC EXPLORES HUMANITY'S ETERNAL SEARCH FOR ONENESS WITH THE UNIVERSE, WEAVING TOGETHER SCRIPTURE AND POETRY FROM AROUND THE GLOBE IN A CAPTIVATING KALEIDOSCOPE OF MUSIC, MOVEMENT, AND SPOKEN WORD. POWERED BY A CROSS-CULTURAL FUSION OF EXUBERANT PERCUSSION AND CHINESE DULCIMER FROM AWARD-WINNING MUSICIANS AND COMPOSERS TOM TEASLEY AND CHAO TIAN, MYSTICISM & MUSIC INVITES AUDIENCES ON A TRANSCENDENT JOURNEY OF CRISIS, RITUAL, COMMUNITY, HEALING, AND CELEBRATION.IN THE FIRST HALF OF 2022, CONSTELLATION PLANNED TO LAUNCH AN AMBITIOUS ORIGINAL WORK TITLED DREAMSCAPE: AN IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE THAT WOULD HAVE DISSOLVED THE 4TH WALL. DUE TO THE CONTINUED IMPACT OF COVID-19, MAYOR BOWSER INSTITUTED MANDATORY SAFETY PROTOCOLS THAT REQUIRED A MINIMUM OF SIX FEET BETWEEN PERFORMERS AND PATRONS. THIS LIMITATION PROHIBITED THE IMMERSIVE NATURE AT THE HEART OF DREAMSCAPE AND CONSTELLATION CANCELED THE PRODUCTION.CONSTELLATION HOSTED A 15TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY IN JUNE AND CELEBRATED THE MILESTONE WITH 150 PATRONS AND ARTISTS. IN ADDITION TO HIRING THREE NEW STAFF MEMBERS, CONSTELLATION PLANNED AN EXCITING RETURN TO A FULL-SEASON OF PROGRAMMING BEGINNING WITH ONCE ON THIS ISLAND IN THE FALL OF 2022.
