THE AFFILIATE PROGRAM AIMS TO BUILD A SUSTAINABLE, BETTER CONNECTED, AND COLLABORATIVE COMMUNITY OF API/A STUDENTS ALONG THE EAST COAST. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR COLLABORATION, EMPOWERMENT, AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FOR API/A STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS WITHIN THE PROGRAM. IN ADDITION, THE PROGRAM WILL SERVE AS A CENTRAL CONNECTION WHERE AFFILIATE ORGANIZATIONS CAN SHARE RESOURCES AND INTERACT WITH OTHER API/A STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS. THE PURPOSE OF THE EAST COAST ASIAN AMERICAN STUDENT UNION (ECAASU) ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE (AIR) PROGRAM IS TO UPLIFT AND FOSTER COMMUNITY BETWEEN EMERGING API/A ARTISTS. AIR FOCUSES ON CREATING A CLOSE KNIT COMMUNITY OF ARTISTS THROUGH BI-WEEKLY WORK AND PROGRESS SHARING MEETINGS, GUEST MENTORS, AND CRAFT / DISCUSSION WORKSHOPS. AIR ALSO FOCUSES ON UPLIFTING SELECTED ARTISTS BY SHARING THEIR PORTFOLIOS THROUGH ECAASU'S NETWORK, HOUSING PORTFOLIOS ON ECAASU'S EXISTING PLATFORMS, AND PROVIDING A FINAL EXPOSITION AT ECAASU'S ANNUAL NATIONAL CONFERENCE THE ECAASU CONFERENCE HAS BEEN A TRADITION SINCE 1978 AND CURRENTLY, IT IS THE OLDEST STUDENT-LED CONFERENCE IN THE COUNTRY CENTERED ON SOCIAL JUSTICE FOR API/A (ASIAN, ASIAN AMERICAN, PACIFIC ISLANDER, PACIFIC ISLANDER AMERICAN) STUDENTS. THE ANNUAL EVENT STRIVES TO FURTHER OUR MISSION TO INSPIRE, EDUCATE, AND EMPOWER THOSE INTERESTED IN API/A ISSUES BY PROVIDING RESOURCES AND GUIDANCE TO THOSE INVESTED IN OUR GOALS. THE ECAASU CONFERENCE HAS GATHERED OVER 1,000 STUDENTS FROM HUNDREDS OF UNIVERSITIES WITH THE PURPOSE OF EDUCATING STUDENTS AND BUILDING A STRONGER NETWORK AMONGST API/A ORGANIZATIONS UPON RETURNING TO THEIR CAMPUSES. THERE IS A GREAT DEAL OF WORK THAT GOES INTO PLANNING SUCH A LARGE EVENT, BUT THE EXPERIENCE IS INCREDIBLY REWARDING. TO BEGIN THE JOURNEY TOWARDS POTENTIALLY HOSTING A CONFERENCE, IT STARTS WITH THIS INTEREST FORM. ECAASU CAMPUS SUMMITS ARE REGIONAL EVENTS COORDINATED WITH YOUR ORGANIZATION OR UNIVERSITY TO EDUCATE, ADVOCATE AND ENGAGE STUDENTS THAT ARE INTERESTED IN API/A ISSUES TO PROMOTE A MORE DIVERSE AND INCLUSIVE WORLD. WE WILL WORK WITH YOU TO IDENTIFY IMPORTANT ISSUES PERTINENT TO YOUR SPECIFIC UNIVERSITY, CITY OR REGION, AND CREATE A CURRICULUM THAT WILL HELP ATTENDEES GAIN A GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF THOSE ISSUES BY LISTENING TO DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW AND ENGAGING IN MEANINGFUL CONVERSATION WITH PEERS AND THE LARGER API/A COMMUNITY.
