AS OF SEPTEMBER 30, 2016, CINI HAD RAISED $6.811 MILLION IN CAPITAL AND APPROVED A TOTAL OF $7.9 MILLION IN 67 LOANS. THE PROJECTS FINANCED PROVIDED ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS TO NORTHEAST COMMUNITIES. WHILE THESE PROJECTS ARE PRIMARILY LOCATED IN THE MAINE COUNTIES OF WASHINGTON, LINCOLN, KENNEBEC, PENOBSCOT, OXFORD, WALDO, YORK, ANDROSCOGGIN, PISCATAQUIS AND CUMBERLAND. THEIR BENEFITS ARE MUCH BROADER THAN THE IMMEDIATE GEOGRAPHY. OVERALL, THESE PROJECTS CREATED/RETAINED 2,241 JOBS; PROVIDED OWNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR 20 WOMEN AND MINORITY BUSINESS OWNERS; CREATED/PRESERVED 68 UNITS OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING; CREATED CHILD CARE SLOTS FOR 210 LOW INCOME FAMILIES; AND EDUCATIONAL, THERAPEUTIC, EMPLOYMENT AND HEALTH SERVICES TO MORE THAN 39 OTHER LOW INCOME CLIENTS. IN ADDITION, THESE PROJECTS PROVIDED A RANGE OF ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS TO THOSE WITH LOW INCOMES, INCLUDING GREEN CONSTRUCTION; GREEN CLEANING SERVICES, ALTERNATIVE ENERGY; SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE; SUPPORT FOR LOCAL FOOD SYSTEMS; GROWSMART DEVELOPMENT; REDUCTION OF ENERGY CONSUMPTION; AND WASTE REDUCTION.
