TO MAKE VICKERY MEADOW A GREAT COMMUNITY AND TO HELP ITS CHILDREN REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL.

Part 3 - Line 4a

EAGLE SCHOLARS - THE EAGLE SCHOLARS COLLEGE READINESS PROGRAM PROVIDES ACADEMIC, SOCIAL, AND EMOTIONAL ENCOURAGEMENT AND SUPPORT TO HIGH-POTENTIAL, UNDERSERVED STUDENTS. THE PROGRAM OFFERS A COMPREHENSIVE SET OF SERVICES, INCLUDING MENTORSHIP, COLLEGE AND CAREER COUNSELING, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, AND CULTURAL COMPETENCY. THE PROGRAM IS HELD EACH DAY FOR SIX WEEKS IN THE SUMMER AND WEEKLY DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. ADDITIONALLY, THE PROGRAM PROVIDES SUPPORT TO THE SCHOLARS WHO GO ON TO COLLEGE AND SUPPORTS THEM THROUGH COLLEGE GRADUATION.


ACADEMIC ENHANCEMENT & COMMUNITY SUPPORT - THIS REPRESENTS RESOURCES THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES TO INCREASE THE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OF THE YOUTH IN VICKERY. ITEMS IN THIS CATEGORY TYPICALLY INCLUDE: FUNDING EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIPS, PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN COLLABORATION WITH THE LOCAL SCHOOLS, AND DISTRIBUTING BOOKS TO SECOND AND THIRD GRADERS FOR AT-HOME READING.


SCHOLARSHIPS - EAGLE SCHOLARS WHO START IN MIDDLE SCHOOL AND CONTINUE IN THE PROGRAM THROUGH COLLEGE ARE PROVIDED WITH SCHOLARSHIPS FROM THE FOUNDATION TO HELP COVER THEIR FOOD, HOUSING, TUITION, BOOKS, AND OTHER EDUCATIONALL EXPENSES. THE FOUNDATION'S GOAL FOR SCHOLARS IS TO FINISH COLLEGE DEBT FREE.
