Part 3 - Line 4a
CHILDREN'S EDUCATION PROGRAM, KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 12TH GRADE:OUR CHILDRENS EDUCATION PROGRAM OFFERS FREE ENGLISH EDUCATION FOR GIFTED STUDENTS FROM POOR FAMILIES IN THE SHISHAM JHARI COMMUNITY OF RISHIKESH, INDIA. IN 2021 MOTHER MIRACLE SCHOOL HAD 566 STUDENTS AND SIXTY STAFF AND TEACHERS. IN THE FALL OF 2021, WE BEGAN CONSTRUCTION TO EXPAND THE SCHOOL BY ADDING SEVEN CLASSROOMS, ALLOWING US TO EDUCATE AN ADDITIONAL 210 STUDENTS IN THE COMING YEARS. OUR SCHOOL IS UNIQUE IN THAT IT IS 100% FREE TO UNDERPRIVILEGED STUDENTS, WHILE EVEN GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS IN INDIA ARE NOT TOTALLY FREE. GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS ARE IN HINDI LANGUAGE, WHILE UNIVERSITIES ARE IN ENGLISH. THE IMPACT: CHILDREN WHO GRADUATE FROM GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS HAVE LESS CHANCE TO GO TO COLLEGE, AND LITTLE TO NO CHANCE OF IMPROVING THEIR STATUS IN LIFE AND THEIR LIVING CONDITIONS. WE PROVIDE A HIGH-QUALITY EDUCATION GIVING THEM THE ADVANTAGE THEY NEED TO OVERCOME THE OBSTACLES OF POVERTY AND TO SUCCEED IN THE FUTURE. WE PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS TO HELP THEM GO TO COLLEGE SO THAT THEY CAN EVENTUALLY HELP TO RAISE THEMSELVES, THEIR FAMILIES, AND THEIR ENTIRE COMMUNITY OUT OF POVERTY. ADMISSION TO OUR SCHOOL IS COMPETITIVE, WITH ONLY SIXTY NEW STUDENTS ADMITTED INTO THE KINDERGARTEN CLASS EACH YEAR, SELECTED FROM AMONG HUNDREDS OF APPLICANTS. WE PROVIDE EACH CHILD WITH FREE SCHOOL MATERIALS, SUMMER AND WINTER CLOTHES, SHOES, ALL BOOKS, NOTEBOOKS, BACKPACKS, TWO MEALS A DAY, HEALTHCARE. WE ALSO PROVIDE CLASSES IN SPORTS, ART, DANCE, SINGING, INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC, YOGA, AND MEDITATION. TECHNOLOGY AND COMPUTER SCIENCES IS A STRONG EMPHASIS AT MOTHER MIRACLE SCHOOL. WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF CODING LANGUAGES AND SKILLFUL USE OF OUR 129 COMPUTERS IN FOUR STATE-OF-THE-ART COMPUTER LABS OUR STUDENTS WILL HAVE AN EDUCATION THAT PREPARES THEM TO COMPETE IN THE INDIAN AND INTERNATIONAL JOB MARKETS. THE SUCCESS RATE OF THE PROGRAM IS EXTREMELY HIGH. SINCE NOVEMBER 2018, 168 STUDENTS ARE BEING EDUCATED IN OUR CODING INSTITUTE EVERY DAY. WITHOUT THE EDUCATION MOTHER MIRACLE PROVIDES, OUR STUDENTS WOULD BECOME CHILD LABORERS OR WOULD NOT RECEIVE ANY EDUCATION AT ALL. GIRLS WOULD BE MARRIED IN ARRANGED MARRIAGES AT AN EARLY AGE AND BEGIN HAVING CHILDREN, AND THUS THE CYCLE OF POVERTY WOULD CONTINUE.
NUTRITION & HEALTH PROGRAM:NUTRITION PROGRAM. OUR NUTRITION PROGRAM ADDRESSES ANOTHER CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO POOR HEALTH AS APPROXIMATELY 90% OF THE CHILDREN IN THE COMMUNITY WE WORK WITHIN DO NOT GET ENOUGH TO EAT. THE MEALS THEY DO HAVE ARE OFTEN DEFICIENT OF ESSENTIAL NUTRIENTS. BEING MALNOURISHED HAMPERS A CHILDS ABILITY TO LEARN, SO EVERY STUDENT BEGINS THE SCHOOL DAY WITH A BREAKFAST OF FRESH MILK WITH VITAMIN POWDER. FOR LUNCH WE OFFER A DAILY ALL YOU CAN EAT LUNCH MADE OF FRESH, LOCAL VEGETABLES, DAL, AND RICE, COOKED IN OUR KITCHEN ON SITE. FOR MANY CHILDREN THIS IS THE LAST MEAL OF THE DAY. DURING THE 10 MONTHS OF LOCKDOWN (FEBRUARY TO NOVEMBER 2021) DUE TO THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC CURFEW AND LOCKDOWN, EACH MONTH MOTHER MIRACLE PROVIDED NUTRITIOUS FOOD GAGS INCLUDED FLOUR, RICE, BEANS, TEA, SUGAR, SPICES, AND COOKING OIL TO OUR STUDENTS FAMILIES. COMMITTED TO THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF OUR UNDERPRIVILEGED COMMUNITY WAS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY DURING THESE MONTHS. OUR OLDER STUDENTS MANAGED THE FOOD DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM AND ULTIMATELY 25,000 INDIVIDUALS BENEFITED FROM THIS PROGRAM DURING THE LOCKDOWN WITH THE PERMISSION AND PRESENCE OF THE GOVERNMENT POLICE.
COLLEGE EDUCATION PROGRAM:THE OBJECTIVE OF OUR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO MERITORIOUS STUDENTS WHO OTHERWISE LACK THE MEANS TO PURSUE HIGHER EDUCATION IN THEIR SELECTED FIELDS OF STUDY. A COLLEGE DEGREE IS REQUIRED IN INDIA TO SECURE A WELL-PAYING JOB. IN 2021 WE HAVE FUNDED, PLACED, AND PROVIDE ONGOING WEEKLY SUCCESS COACHING TO SIXTEEN MOTHER MIRACLE GRADUATES INTO PRIVATE COLLEGES. THE COST OF PRIVATE INDIAN COLLEGES NEARBY OUR COMMUNITY RANGES FROM $2500 AND $6800 ANNUALLY FOR TUITION, ROOM AND BOARD, UNIFORMS, AND BOOKS. THIS YEAR $67,786 HAS BEEN SECURED THROUGH BOARD OF DIRECTORS FUNDRAISING EFFORTS, AND DONATIONS BY OUR GENEROUS SPONSORS.
