DURING THE 2022-23 FISCAL YEAR, THE CHILDREN'S MISSION FOCUS WAS SUPPORTING THE WORK BEING DONE IN MALAWI, AFRICA, BY MBWANA CHILDREN'S MISSION BY SPREADING AWARENESS, RAISING FUNDS TO SUPPORT THE ORGANIZATION AND SUPPORTING PROGRAMMING. HERE ARE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PROGRAM:1) SINCE 2007 MBWANA CHILDREN'S MISSION HAS SERVED OVER 272 ORPHANED AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN WITH A CURRENT ACTIVE ROSTER OF 163 INCLUDING CHILDREN AGES 3 TO YOUNG ADULTS AGE 27. AT THE START, 3 FRESH WATER WELLS WERE ESTABLISHED PROVIDING ACCESS FOR OVER 1000 PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY, AND TO DATE OVER 900,000 MEALS HAVE BEEN SERVED. TODAY, EVERY CHILD RECEIVES BREAKFAST AND LUNCH 5 DAYS A WEEK. MEDICAL SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE CHILDREN AND THEIR GUARDIANS FROM PREVENTION, ASSESSMENT, TREATMENT TO HOSPITAL STAYS. THE ONSITE PRIMARY SCHOOL, MCM ACADEMY, HAS 100 CHILDREN PREK - STD 8, 2 CHILDREN LIVING FULL TIME AT AQUAID LIFE LINE, 49 CHILDREN ATTEND SECONDARY SCHOOL, 4 SCHOOL LEAVERS (AWAITING PLACEMENT), 4 AT TECHNICAL COLLEGES AND 4 IN UNIVERSITY. THE PROGRAM'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE SERVICES FOR THE "WHOLE CHILD AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A FUTURE OF INDEPENDENCE BEYOND POVERTY. MCM IS NOT AN ORPHANAGE MODEL SO THE CHILDREN LIVE IN THE COMMUNITY WITH FAMILY OR GUARDIANS. 2) $50K WAS CONTRIBUTED BY ONE FAMILY TOWARDS ALL TERTIARY PROGRAMS INCLUDING PHASE 1 OF THE NEW VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM WHICH LAUNCHED IN JANUARY 2022. YOUNG ADULTS FROM THE COMMUNITY WHO WERE PREVIOUSLY A PART OF MCM WERE INVITED TO BE THE FIRST CLASS WITH 45 SIGNING ON. TRAINERS WERE HIRED TO TEACH TAILORING AND BARBER SKILLS. GRADUATES FROM THE PROGRAM WILL RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE AND EQUIPMENT NEEDED TO START UP A SMALL BUSINESS WITHIN THEIR COMMUNITY. 3) THE FIRST TEAM VISIT IN 4 YEARS TOOK PLACE IN JUNE 2022 WITH 18 PEOPLE COMING FROM THE UNITED STATES TO VOLUNTEER AT THE CENTER FOR 2 WEEKS. THE MAIN FOCUS WAS ON TEACHER TRAINING AND MAINTENANCE PROJECTS INCLUDING PAINTING ALL 8 CLASSROOMS AND RECONSTRUCTING THE LIBARY.
