CINESTUDIO PROVIDES NEW ENGLAND, AND ESPECIALLY HARTFORD, WITH UNIQUE FILMS THAT ARE OFTEN UNAVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC OUTSIDE OF LARGER METROPOLITAN AREAS: INDEPENDENT MOVIES, CLASSIC AMERICAN CINEMA, AND FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILMS THAT PROVIDE AUDIENCES EXPOSURE TO A WIDE VARIETY OF WORLD CULTURES. STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS HAVE INPUT WITH RESPECT TO WHAT FILMS ARE CHOSEN. THESE FILMS EXPOSE THE PUBLIC TO THE ART OF CINEMA, AT A REASONABLE COST, WITH THE OBJECTIVES TO ENTERTAIN, EDUCATE, INSPIRE, PROVOKE AND TRANSFORM. CINESTUDIO RUNS YEAR-ROUND, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK, AND KEEPS THE PUBLIC INFORMED ABOUT ITS SCHEDULE THROUGH OCCASIONAL MAILINGS, A WEBSITE, A FILM HOTLINE, SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS, AND POSTERS. ONE OF CINESTUDIO'S LONG-TIME COMMITMENTS IS TO SHOW FILMS IN THE BEST TECHNOLOGICAL FORMAT AVAILABLE, PROVIDING BOTH A HISTORICALLY ACCURATE PRESENTATION OF FILMS THAT DATE BACK TO THE EARLY 20TH CENTURY AS WELL AS HAVING THE ABILITY TO SHOW CUTTING-EDGE, INDEPENDENT FILMS. VERY FEW COMMERCIAL THEATERS HAVE THE EQUIPMENT TO SHOW OLDER 35MM AND 70MM FILMS IN THEIR ORIGINAL FORMATS. IN 2011, CINESTUDIO PURCHASED A STATE-OF-THE-ART DIGITAL PROJECTION SYSTEM, WHICH ALLOWS IT TO CONTINUE TO PRESENT CINEMA IN NEW FORMATS TO THE NEXT GENERATION OF FILMGOERS.CINESTUDIO PLAYS HOST TO SEVERAL FILM FESTIVALS AND SPECIAL EVENT SCREENINGS EACH YEAR. THESE EVENTS HAVE INCLUDED FRENCH, ITALIAN, AND LGBTQ+ FILM FESTIVALS. THE ANNUAL TRINITY FILM FESTIVAL FEATURES SHORT FILMS MADE BY BOTH U.S. AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS. THESE PROGRAMS ARE OFTEN DEVELOPED WITH OTHER NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, INCLUDING OUT FILM CT, AND THE ALLIANCE FRANAISE.CINESTUDIO HAS BROADENED ITS PROGRAMMING TO BRING TO HARTFORD LIVE BROADCASTS OF THEATER, BALLET, AND FINE ART EXHIBITIONS.
