IN ITS 2022/2023 FISCAL YEAR, GLOBALPITTSBURGH WAS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY IMPLEMENT IN-PERSON PROGRAMS FOR EXCHANGE PARTICIPANTS SPONSORED BY THE U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT. DURING THIS TIME PERIOD, THE ORGANIZATION DESIGNED AND IMPLEMENTED 26 IN-PERSON EXCHANGES FOR 199 PARTICIPANTS IN THE IVLP. WE ALSO HOSTED TWO COHORTS OF SYLEP WITH 28 PARTICIPANTS IN TOTAL, 2 YSEALI FELLOWS, 4 RUSSIAN BUSINESS LEADERS FELLOWS, A PROJECT FOR THE U.S. EMBASSY IN BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA, IN OCTOBER, THE OPEN WORLD: RULE OF LAW FOR 6 VISITORS FROM UZBEKISTAN, ASSISTED WITH SPORTS VISITOR PROGRAM. ADDITIONALLY, THE ORGANIZATION LAUNCHED HOMESTAYS WITH LOCAL FAMILIES FOR 41 JAPANESE STUDENTS FROM YASUDA UNIVERSITY PARTICIPATING IN AN EXCHANGE WITH THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTITUTE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH WHO WERE HERE IN TWO COHORTS, ONE ARRIVED IN MAY 2022 AND STAYED THROUGH SEPTEMBER AND THE OTHER ARRIVED IN SEPTEMBER 2022 AND LEFT IN JANUARY 2023. OVER TWO HUNDRED COMMUNITY MEMBERS MET WITH THEIR COUNTERPARTS DURING THE FISCAL YEAR. THE ORGANIZATION HOSTED 9 IN-PERSON NETWORKING EVENTS, FIRST THURSDAYS AND GLOBAL INTERSECTOR.
