VNA EXTENDED HOME CARE PROVIDES TOP-QUALITY PRIVATE DUTY ASSISTANCE TO PEOPLE IN THEIR HOMES IN THE COMMUNITIES THAT WE SERVE. IT IS OUR GOAL TO ASSIST CONSUMERS WITH MAINTAINING THEIR MOBILITY, INDEPENDENCE, HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. THE SERVICES ARE BASED UPON EACH INDIVIDUAL'S NEEDS AND PREFERENCES. SERVICES INCLUDE PERSONAL ASSISTANCE, COMPANION, HOUSEKEEPING AND RESPITE SERVICES.

VNA EXTENDED HOME CARE DBA STAY@HOME WAS ESTABLISHED TO PROMOTE HEALTH, MOBILITY, DIGNITY, INDEPENDENCE AND SOCIAL WELL-BEING FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN THE INDIANA COUNTY, PA AREA BY PROVIDING HOME CARE AND RELATED SERVICES. APPROXIMATELY 123 CONSUMERS WERE SERVED DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2020. A TOTAL OF 9,357 VISITS WERE DELIVERED BY THE STAFF. VNA EXTENDED HOME CARE IS A LICENSED PRIVATE DUTY AGENCY IN THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA. THE STAFF OF CAREGIVERS ASSIST CONSUMERS WITH FUNCTIONS OF EVERYDAY LIVING INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: BATHING, GROOMING, TOILETING, LIGHT HOUSEKEEPING, LAUNDRY, GROCERY SHOPPING, AND MEAL PREPARATION. OFTEN TIMES, THESE INDIVIDUALS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR NURSING HOME LEVEL OF CARE BUT DESIRE TO REMAIN IN THEIR HOME. A SOURCE OF CONSUMER REFERRALS IS THE LOCAL AREA AGENCY ON AGENCY IN INDIANA COUNTY. THIS PROGRAM FUNDS PERSONAL CARE AND HOME SUPPORT SERVICES TO FINANCIALLY QUALIFIED SENIORS. IN ADDITION, THE ORGANIZATION ACCEPTS REFERRALS FROM THE VA TO ASSIST VETERANS WHO HAVE BEEN APPROVED FOR IN-HOME SERVICES INCLUDING HOME SUPPORT AND PERSONAL CARE. THE AGENCY ALSO OFFERS PROFESSIONAL NURSING SERVICES WHICH ARE PROVIDED TO SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN WITH EMOTIONAL NEEDS OR PHYSICAL NEEDS, INCLUDING TRACH CARE, MED FILLS, AND WOUND CARE. LPNS RIDE THE SCHOOL BUS WITH THE CHILD TO ADMINISTER CARE. SOMETIMES THE NURSE IS ONLY NEEDED ON BUS TO AND FROM SCHOOL, SOMETIMES THE NURSE IS ALSO PRESENT IN CLASS DURING THE DAY FOR DIRECT SUPPORT. THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED IN COLLABORATION WITH ARIN INTERMEDIATE UNIT 28, WHICH IS AN ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT TO LEARNERS OF ALL AGES IN SCHOOL DISTRICTS WITHIN ARMSTRONG AND INDIANA COUNTIES. FOUR STUDENTS WERE SERVED DURING THE 2019-2020 TAX YEAR. ON JANUARY 31, 2020, ACTING HHS SECRETARY ALEX AZAR FIRST DECLARED A PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY FOLLOWING THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION'S RECOGNITION OF THE NOVEL CORONAVIRUS, COVID-19, AS A PANDEMIC. IN RESPONSE TO THIS CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK, THE STATE AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS HAVE TAKEN PREVENTATIVE OR PROTECTIVE ACTIONS, SUCH AS IMPOSING RESTRICTIONS ON TRAVEL AND BUSINESS OPERATIONS AND ADVISING OR REQUIRING INDIVIDUALS TO LIMIT OR FOREGO THEIR TIME OUTSIDE OF THEIR HOMES. DAILY HIGH-LEVEL LEADERSHIP MEETINGS WERE ESTABLISHED TO ASSESS AND PROVIDE GUIDANCE TO STAFF THROUGH EVERY CHANGING REGULATION SURROUNDING THE PANDEMIC. THROUGHOUT THE PANDEMIC, EDUCATION AND GUIDANCE RELATED TO BEST PRACTICES AND CDC PROTOCOL WAS PROVIDED BY OUR CORPORATE COMPLIANCE TEAM. THIS ALLOWED OUR FRONTLINE WORKERS TO REMAIN SAFE AND ABLE TO PROVIDE QUALITY CARE TO MANY COVID AFFECTED PATIENTS AND FAMILIES. EVEN WITH DECREASED CENSUS WHEN SURROUNDING HOSPITALS SHUT DOWN, THERE WERE NO LAYOFFS AS A RESULT OF THE PANDEMIC. THE AGENCY WORKED WITH A CORPORATE PURCHASING TEAM TO ENSURE APPROPRIATE LEVELS OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE), LABORATORY EQUIPMENT, TESTS AND OTHER RELATED COVID RESPONSE ITEMS WERE PURCHASED TO PROVIDE CARE IS THE SAFEST WAY POSSIBLE.
