INTEGRATED STUDENT SERVICES - CIS PROVIDES AN EVIDENCE-BASED MODEL, INTEGRATED STUDENT SERVICES (ISS) FOR MORE THAN 8,000 STUDENTS AT 17 SCHOOLS IN 7 SCHOOL DISTRICTS. ISS UTILIZES A SITE COORDINATOR, WHO LEVERAGES COMMUNITY RESOURCES WHILE ALSO PROVIDING SUPPORT SERVICES, LIFE SKILLS, TARGETED INTERVENTIONS, AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS, PARENT ENGAGEMENT AND BASIC NEEDS. THE DESIGN OF THIS INTERVENTION IS BASED OFF OF A STAKEHOLDER NEEDS ASSESSMENT AND RESOURCE MAP OF SERVICES COMING INTO THE SCHOOL. THE SITE COORDINATORS BRING TOGETHER MANY PARTNERS TO OFFER A RANGE OF SUPPORTS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITIES. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE OCOMMUNITY SCHOOLS - CIS SERVES AS THE LEAD PARTNER FOR 9 SCHOOL SITES IN DEPLOYING THE COMMUNITY SCHOOL MODEL. THIS PROGRAM LEVERAGES PARTNERSHIPS AND VITAL COMMUNITY RESOURCES FOR USE IN THE SCHOOL THAT ARE DELIVERED TO BOTH STUDENTS AND FAMILIES. WHILE COMMUNITY SCHOOLS FOCUS IS TO IMPROVE SCHOOL WIDE PERFORMANCE, THERE IS A SPECIALIZED FOCUS IN EACH BUILDING THAT IS DESIGNED AND ANNUALLY UPDATED THROUGH A NEEDS ASSESSMENT AND ASSET MAP. REENGAGEMENT THE PROGRAMMING IDENTIFIES AND RE-ENROLLS OUT-OF-SCHOOL YOUTH OR DISCONNECTED YOUTH INTO A SUCCESSFUL PATH TO A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED, CAREER TRAINING AND OVER-ALL PREPAREDNESS TO ENTER THE WORKFORCE. REENGAGEMENT PROGRAMMING DIFFERS SUBSTANTIALLY FROM TRADITIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL IN THAT STUDENTS ARE PROVIDED WITH INDIVIDUALIZED ACADEMIC PLANS AS WELL AS CASE-MANAGERS AND WRAP-AROUND STUDENT SERVICES THAT ADDRESS NON-ACADEMIC BARRIERS THAT PREVENTED A YOUTH FROM SUCCEEDING IN A TRADITIONAL SCHOOL SETTING, INCLUDING REFERRALS TO HOUSING, CHILDCARE, EMPLOYMENT, SUBSTANCE ABUSE ASSISTANCE, MENTAL HEALTH AND MEDICAL CARE, AS WELL AS OTHER NECESSARY SUPPORTS.
