THE MISSION OF THE MORAVIAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM AND HISTORIC SITE IS TO PRESERVE, INTERPRET, AND CELEBRATE THE RICH CULTURE OF MORAVIANS.

THE 1740-1743 WHITEFIELD HOUSE MUSEUM FEATURES A PERMANENT EXHIBITION GALLERY, CHANGING EXHIBITION SPACES, AND A MUSEUM STORE. PERMANENT EXHIBITION INCLUDES AN OUTSTANDING COLLECTION OF OBJECTS THAT TELL THE STORY OF THE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS MORAVIANS MADE TO MUSIC, ART, EDUCATION, AND CULTURE IN EARLY AMERICA. HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE SIX OIL PAINTINGS BY JOHN VALENTINE HAIDT (1700-1780), THE EARLIEST-KNOWN VIOLIN MADE IN AMERICA, AND A 1776 PIPE ORGAN MADE BY DAVID TANNENBERG.NUMEROUS EVENTS ARE PROVIDED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FOR THE PUBLIC TO ENJOY EITHER FREE OR FOR A NOMINAL CHARGE. THE MUSEUM IS OPEN SEVEN DAYS PER WEEK, YEAR ROUND. DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS WE OFFER FREE ADMISSION TO OUR MUSEUM AS PART OF OUR FREE SUMMER SUNDAYS PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM ALSO FEATURES A FAMILY-FRIENDLY CRAFT ACTIVITY. EACH YEAR WE ALSO PARTICIPATE IN CHRISTMAS IN NAZARETH, A FREE FAMILY-FRIENDLY COMMUNITY EVENT THAT OFFERS KIDS' ACTIVITIES AND TOURS OF THE HISTORIC 1740-1743 WHITEFIELD HOUSE AND THE 1740 GRAY COTTAGE. WE PARTICIPATE IN BLUE STAR MUSEUM PROGRAM WHICH OFFERS FREE ADMISSION TO US MILITARY MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES.
