THE MISSION OF THE EVERHART MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY, SCIENCE, AND ART IS TO FOSTER KNOWLEDGE AND ENJOYMENT OF NATURAL HISTORY, SCIENCE, ART, AND CULTURE THROUGH A VARIETY OF EXHIBITIONS, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, AND EVENTS FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND BACKGROUNDS THROUGHOUT NORTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA. THE MUSEUM CARES FOR THE EXTENSIVE COLLECTIONS ENTRUSTED TO IT TO PRESERVE THE REGION'S CULTURAL AND NATURAL HERITAGE AS WELL AS TO DOCUMENT CULTURES AND NATURAL OBJECTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD, FACILITATING A DEEPER CONNECTION BETWEEN THE COMMUNITY AND THE WORLD AROUND THEM.

DURING 2022, THE MUSEUM PRESENTED SIX TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS TO THE PUBLIC: (1) THE SCHOLASTIC ART GOLD KEY EXHIBITION, A SHOWCASE OF THE BEST ARTWORK OF THE NORTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA REGION'S HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS; (2) MEANINGFUL OBJECTS, AN EXHIBITION OF OBJECTS FROM THE HOMES OF STAFF AND BOARD MEMBERS THAT HELD SENTIMENTAL VALUE; (3) IN FULL BLOOM: FLOWERS OF THE EVERHART, AN EXHIBITION OF ARTWORK FROM THE MUSEUM COLLECTION THAT DEPICT FLOWERS; (4) THE READER: PAINTINGS BY TRAVIS PRINCE, A COLLECTION OF PAINTINGS OF AFRICAN AMERICANS READING WORKS OF LITERATURE BY AFRICAN AMERICANS; (5) CHANGING FREQUENCIES: WORKS BY JON CARSMAN, AN EXHIBIT HIGHLIGHTING THE WORK OF WILKES-BARRE-BORN LANDSCAPE ARTIST JON CARSMAN AND (6) WORKS ON PAPER, AN EXHIBITION OF INK SKETCHES, CHARCOAL DRAWINGS, AND PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE EVERHART'S COLLECTION.OPEN TO THE PUBLIC THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, THE EVERHART MUSEUM ALSO PROVIDED GUIDED TOURS OF ITS PERMANENT AND TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS, HOSTED A WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE WITH ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI KITCHEN, HOSTED THE KINDNESS CANVAS WORKSHOP, HELD THE MCNICHOLS PLAZA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BACK TO SCHOOL FAIR, HELD VARIOUS WORKSHOPS, INCLUDING MONTHLY FAMILY WORKSHOPS, KEYSTONE COLLEGE BEE KEEPING, ROCK PAINTING WITH SCRANTON ROCKS, MEAD AND GREET WITH DAN SCHREFFLER, AND THE EVERHART MINIMASTERS. THE EVERHART MUSEUM ALSO HOSTED VARIOUS FREE ADMISSION/COMMUNITY DAYS, INCLUDING THE 115TH ANNIVERSARY COMMUNITY DAY, ELECTRIC CITY FLOWER SHOW FREE ADMISSION DAY, RAKIN IN THE FUN COMMUNITY DAY, AND SNOW MUCH FUN COMMUNITY DAY.
