WITH A FOCUS ON CONTEMPORARY ART MADE FROM CRAFT MEDIA AND PROCESSES, CRAFT CONTEMPORARY PRESENTS DYNAMIC EXHIBITIONS BY ESTABLISHED AND EMERGING ARTISTS AND DESIGNERS WHO ARE OFTEN UNDERREPRESENTED IN LARGER ART INSTITUTIONS.

CRAFT CONTEMPORARY (CC) WAS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC FROM MARCH 2020 TO MAY 9, 2021. ALL PROGRAMS INCLUDING CRAFT WORKSHOPS AND STUDIO TOURS WERE PRESENTED ONLINE VIA THE ZOOM AND INSTAGRAM LIVE PLATFORMS AS WELL AS MATERIALS PRESENTED ON YOUTUBE AND THE MUSEUM WEBSITE. SCHOOL TOURS WERE CONDUCTED ONLINE FOR ABOUT 500 STUDENTS. THE MUSEUM REOPENED WITH THREE ARTISTICALLY DIVERSE EXHIBITIONS WHICH HIGHLIGHTED CRAFT MATERIALS AND PROCESSES AND INVOLVED COMMUNITY COLLABORATION. PUBLIC PROGRAMS INCLUDING ART TALKS, GALLERY TOURS AND PANEL DISCUSSIONS WERE CONDUCTED VIRTUALLY. THE SHOP SUPPORTED LOCAL MAKERS VIA ONLINE SALES AND IN-PERSON SALES FOLLOWING THE MUSEUM RE-OPENING.
