TO PROVIDE SAFE AND TIMELY TRANSPORT TO MEDICAL FACILITIES, IN TIMES OF MEDICAL EMERGENCIES, TO THE RESIDENTS OF OLD SAYBROOK AND NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES. TO ADMINISTER APPROPRIATE INTERMEDIATE MEDICAL ASSISTANCE WHILE THE PATIENT IS IN TRANSIT TO A MEDICAL FACILITY.

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE OLD SAYBROOK AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION (OSAA) CURRENTLY OWNS AND OPERATES TWO FULLY EQUIPPED AMBULANCES WHICH ARE DISPATCHED THROUGH THE 911 EMERGENCY SYSTEM. AMBULANCE SERVICE IS 24 HOURS A DAY, 7 DAYS A WEEK. THE AMBULANCES ARE MANNED BY VOLUNTEERS TRAINED IN EMERGENCY MEDICINE. OSAA CURRENTLY HAS 39 ACTIVE STAFF, 34 OF WHOM ARE CERTIFIED EMT'S, 3 CERTIFIED AS EMR'S AND 2 CERTIFIED AS EMT PARAMEDICS. IN THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED 4/30/21 OSAA RESPONDED TO 1,567 EMERGENCY MEDICAL CALLS. OSAA IS ALSO ACTIVE IN EDUCATING RESIDENTS IN MATTERS OF HEALTH AND SAFETY, SUCH AS PROVIDING FIRST AID AND CPR CLASSES, AND TRAINING IN THE USE OF LIFE SAVING DEVICES SUCH AS DEFIBRILATORS AND EPI-PENS.
