CRHS ACTIVELY PROMOTES THE HUMANE TREATMENT OF ANIMALS AND POSITIVE HUMAN-ANIMAL RELATIONSHIPS.

CRHS IS THE LEADING COMMUNITY RESOURCE FOR COMPANION ANIMAL SERVICES. WE PROVIDE FOR RELINQUISHMENT, ADOPTION, EDUCATION, TRAINING, PET THERAPY, LOST AND FOUND PET ASSISTANCE, AND ANIMAL CONTROL. WE PROVIDE SHELTER TO LOST, ABANDONED OR SURRENDERED ANIMALS AS WELL AS OFFER ADOPTION OF HOMELESS ANIMALS. IN 2023, 2,398 ANIMALS CAME TO OUR SHELTER IN NEED OF HELP. WHILE CARING FOR STRAY AND SURRENDERED ANIMALS AND PROVIDING ADOPTIONS SERVICES ARE MAJOR COMPONENTS OF OUR BUSINESS, CRHS OFFERS MANY OTHER COMMUNITY SERVICES. OUR SPAY/NEUTER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM OFFERS FINANCIAL HELP TO INCOME ELIGIBLE RESIDENTS SO THAT THEY CAN ALTER THEIR PETS. THE CRHS FRANKE FUND ALLOWS US TO OFFER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO PET OWNERS WITH VETERINARY EMERGENCIES, GIVING ASSISTANCE TO PETS WITH URGENT NEEDS. CRHS PET THERAPY PROGRAM HAS PROVIDED COMFORT AND FRIENDSHIP TO THOSE IN OUR COMMUNITY FOR OVER 50 YEARS BRINGING SMILES, FRIENDSHIP, LAUGHTER, DOG KISSES, AND COMPANIONSHIP. IN 2021 WE ACHIEVED AND CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN "NO KILL" STATUS, WHICH IS HAVING A LIVE RELEASE RATE OF ABOVE 90%. IN 2023, PET THERAPY TEAMS VISITED 56,151 PEOPLE. OUR ANIMAL CONTROL PROGRAM SERVED APPROXIMATELY 1,630 DOMESTIC AND 666 WILD ANIMALS IN 2023. CRHS OFFERS DOG TRAINING AND BEHAVIOR SERVICES BY A CERTIFIED TRAINER. OUR TRAINING AND BEHAVIOR PROGRAM HELPED 214 DOGS IN CARING HOMES BY PROVIDING RESOURCES TO STRENGTHEN THE HUMAN-DOG RELATIONSHIP WHILE WORKING THROUGH COMMON BEHAVIOR OR TRAINING NEEDS. OUR HUMANE EDUCATOR PRESENTED 43 PROGRAMS REACHING APPROXIMATELY 5,175 PARTICIPANTS OF ALL AGES ON TOPICS SUCH AS SAFETY AROUND ANIMALS, PROPER CARE OF ANIMALS, AND ANIMAL ABUSE/NEGLECT. WE ALSO EDUCATE THE ADULT POPULATION BY SPEAKING TO PROFESSIONAL GROUPS AND PROVIDING TOURS OF OUR SHELTER. VOLUNTEERS ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO CRHS. THEY PROVIDE CARE FOR THE ANIMALS, MAKING SURE THE ANIMALS ARE CLEAN, HAVE FRESH FOOD AND WATER AND GET TIME TO PLAY AND SOCIALIZE WITH HUMANS. IN 2023, VOLUNTEERS DONATED OVER 10,616 HOURS OF SERVICE.
