TO PROMOTE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE 34TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES AND GENERAL OF THE ARMY; THE CODE BY WHICH HE LIVED; AND THE SIGNAL QUALITIES THAT MADE HIM IN HIS TIME THE WORLD'S MOST TRUSTED FIGURE. TO ESTABLISH AT GETTYSBURG COLLEGE, OF WHICH HE WAS A TRUSTEE AND ON WHOSE CAMPUS HE MAINTAINED HIS GETTYSBURG OFFICE, AN ENDOWMENT FOR THE DIGNIFIED AND SCHOLARLY ANNUAL OBSERVANCE OF HIS BIRTHDAY BY EXAMINATION AND PRESENTATION OF THE MANY FACETS OF HIS CAREER AS A DEDICATED CITIZEN, CHURCHMAN, EDUCATOR, MILITARY LEADER, STATESMAN AND WORLD FIGURE; TO PUBLISH AND DISTRIBUTE THE ANNUAL PROGRAM IN RECORDED FORM TO SECONDARY SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES, AND LIBRARIES, AS PERMANENT REFERENCE MATERIAL.TO WORK TOWARD THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN EISENHOWER CHAIR OF OTHER EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES AT GETTYSBURG COLLEGE.
