THE AUXILIARY OPERATES A GIFT SHOP AND COFFEE SHOP FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PATIENTS AND FAMILIES OF SANFORD BISMARCK. NET PROCEEDS FROM THESE OPERATIONS AS WELL AS A FEW ANNUAL FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES IS FOR THE BENEFIT OF SANFORD BISMARCK.

THE SANFORD BISMARCK AUXILIARY OPERATES A GIFT SHOP WITHIN SANFORD BISMARCK TO RAISE FUNDS FOR SANFORD PROJECTS, EQUIPMENT, AND EDUCATION/TRAINING. ADDITIONALLY, THE GIFT SHOP IS OPERATED AS AN IMPORTANT CONVENIENCE FOR PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES TO USE DURING THEIR HOSPITAL STAYS AND VISITS. THE GIFT SHOP OFFERS ITEMS PATIENTS AND FAMILIES MAY HAVE FORGOTTEN. IT OFFERS A WELCOMING RESPITE FOR FAMILY MEMBERS WHO NEED TO LEAVE THE PATIENT CARE AREA DURING STRESSFUL OR SORROWFUL SITUATIONS. FINALLY, THE GIFT SHOP IS ALSO AN IMPORTANT CONVENIENCE TO EMPLOYEES AND FAMILIES. THE OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE SMALL GIFT AND SNACK ITEMS ON SITE IS A MUCH APPRECIATED SERVICE FOR THE SANFORD EMPLOYEES, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO WORK EXTRAORDINARILY LONG DAYS AND/OR SHIFT WORK AND LESS OPPORTUNITY TO SHOP OTHERWISE.
THE AUXILIARY MERGED INTO SANFORD BISMARCK ON JUNE 30, 2021. THE GRANT AMOUNT REPRESENTS THE AMOUNT OF ASSETS TRANSFERRED ON THIS DATE.
THE SANFORD BISMARCK AUXILIARY OPERATES A COFFEE SHOP WITHIN SANFORD BISMARCK TO RAISE FUNDS FOR VARIOUS NEEDS THROUGHOUT THE HEALTH SYSTEM. INTENTIONALLY STAFFED WITH PERSONNEL WHO HAVE DEMONSTRATED A CAPACITY TO PROVIDE FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE, THE COFFEE SHOP NOT ONLY OFFERS A GREATLY APPRECIATED CONVENIENCE FOR PATIENTS, AND THEIR FAMILIES, BUT ALSO A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT. THE ONSITE COFFEE SHOP IS ALSO AN IMPORTANT CONVENIENCE FOR EMPLOYEES, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO ARE UNABLE TO TO LEAVE THE HOSPITAL DURING EXTENDED WORK SHIFTS.
THE SANFORD BISMARCK AUXILIARY PLANS AND HOSTS FUNDRAISING EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO RAISE FUNDS FOR AREAS OF NEED WITHIN THE HEALTH SYSTEM. THE FUNDRAISERS INCLUDE BEDDING SALES, BOOK FAIRS, AND JEWELRY FAIRS. PROCEEDS FROM THE EVENTS ARE DONATED TO AREAS WITHIN SANFORD WHOSE REVENUE FALLS SHORT OF WHAT THE SERVICE COSTS PROVIDE. ONE EXAMPLE IS THE INFUSION CENTER. THE AUXILIARY DONATES SNACKS TO BE ENJOYED BY INFUSION PATIENTS THAT SPEND LONG HOURS IN THE INFUSION CENTER. THE AUXILIARY DONATED A SELF PLAYING PIANO THAT WAS PLACED IN THE LOBBY OF THE MEDICAL CENTER. THE AUXILIARY LINES UP VARIOUS MUSICAL TALENTS, OFTEN GIVING THEM AN HONORARIUM FOR THEIR SERVICE. SOMETIMES VOLUNTEERS CLOSE TO THE ORGANIZATION COME TO PERFORM AS WELL. MUSIC AND FAMILIAR SONGS CAN BE THERAPEUTIC TO OUR PATIENTS AND FAMILIES. THE AUXILIARY ALSO HAS DONATED FUNDS TO HELP COVER THE COSTS OF THE CHILD LIFE PROGRAM IN THE HOSPITAL AND CLINIC. THIS PROGRAM HELPS CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES NAVIGATE DIFFICULT EXAMS OR PROCEDURES.
