IN 2022 TO 2023, CAROLINA BALLET THEATRE SERVED AS THE PEACE CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS RESIDENT BALLET COMPANY. IN ITS 51ST SEASON, THE DANCE COMPANY OFFERED 4 BALLETS ACROSS 12 LIVE PERFORMANCES. IN OCTOBER OF 2022, THE SEASON OPENED WITH THE HAUNTING PERFORMANCE OF GHOSTS, WHICH IS A BLEND OF BALLET AND CONTEMPORARY DANCE AND IS SET TO MODERN POP MUSIC. CONTINUING THE LONGSTANDING CHRISTMAS TRADITION, CAROLINA BALLET THEATRE RETURNED TO THE CONCERT HALL OF THE PEACE CENTER FOR THE NUTCRACKER: ONCE UPON A TIME IN GREENVILLE IN DECEMBER OF 2022. THIS CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED PRODUCTION FEATURED GREENVILLE THEMATIC SETS AND WAS SET TO TCHAIKOVSKY'S RENOWNED SCORE. A COMMUNITY NUTCRACKER WAS INCORPORATED INTO THE MATINEE SHOW WHERE 150 TICKETS WERE PROVIDED TO FOUR OF GREENVILLE'S CHILDREN'S CHARITIES. IN MARCH OF 2023, THE COMPANY HOSTED AN OUTREACH PERFORMANCE ENTITLED, EMPOWERING WOMEN, AS A TRIBUTE TO JASMINE ROAD. THIS IS A LOCAL NON-PROFIT WHOSE MISSION IS TO PROVIDE A PATH TO HEALING AND EMPLOYMENT FOR WOMEN SURVIVORS OF SEX TRAFFICKING, PROSTITUTION AND ADDICTION. DURING THE SOLD-OUT PERFORMANCE DONATIONS WERE ENCOURAGED TO BE GIVEN TO THIS WORTHY ORGANIZATION AS WELL AS ALLOWED THEIR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AN OPPORTUNITY TO INFORM THE AUDIENCE ABOUT THEIR EFFORTS. FOR THE SEASON FINALE AT THE PEACE CENTER, THE COMPANY PERFORMED A NEW ORIGINAL BALLET BY ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, HERNAN JUSTO, TITLED SNOW PRINCESS. THE STORY TOOK INSPIRATION FROM THE WELL-KNOWN BALLET, SNOW QUEEN AND ADDED A MODERN, ASPIRATIONAL TOUCH. IN ADDITION TO THE TICKETED LIVE PERFORMANCES, CAROLINA BALLET THEATRE ALSO PARTICIPATED IN SEVERAL OUTREACH PROGRAMS INCLUDING ART IN MOTION AND ARTISPHERE. THE CAROLINA BALLET THEATRE BOYS IN BALLET PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SCHOOL AGE BOYS TO PARTICIPATE IN A CBT SPONSORED DANCE CLASS WAS OFFERED WEEKLY FROM SEPTEMBER 2022 MAY 2023. CAROLINA BALLET THEATRE WAS ABLE TO EXPAND ITS STAFF OF PROFESSIONAL DANCERS AS WELL AS CONTRACT MULTIPLE GUEST ARTISTS AND PRODUCTION CREW. A PREPROFESSIONAL PLATFORM WAS ALSO CREATED TO PROVIDE DANCERS, AT THE BEGINNING OF THEIR CAREER, WITH PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTION AND PARTICIPATION IN PRODUCTIONS AT NO COST.
