THE AWTY INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL (AWTY) IS A PRIVATE DAY SCHOOL THAT PROVIDES INSTRUCTION TO BOTH AMERICAN AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN HOUSTON, TEXAS. AWTY'S ENROLLMENT IS APPROXIMATELY 1,717 STUDENTS IN PRESCHOOL THROUGH 12TH GRADE. FOUNDED IN 1956, THE PURPOSE OF AWTY IS TO GIVE ITS STUDENTS AN INNOVATIVE AND COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATION AT ALL LEVELS. THE STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO ACQUIRE FLUENCY IN A SECOND LANGUAGE AND TO PARTICIPATE IN ACADEMIC AND EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES TO INCREASE THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF OTHER SOCIETIES AND CULTURES AND OF GLOBAL AFFAIRS.
