GRANT MAKING TO NUMEROUS TAX EXEMPT ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE TULSA AREA.
WATER WELL: THE GOAL OF THE INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS COMMITTEE IS THE ADVANCEMENT OF INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING, GOODWILL AND PEACE THROUGH A WORLD FELLOWSHIP OF BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL PERSONS UNITED IN THE IDEAL OF SERVICE. STARTED IN 2000 BY THE ROTARY CLUB OF TULSA, OUR CURRENT, MORE SPECIFIC GOAL IS TO PROVIDE POTABLE WATER TO THE POOR WHO LIVE IN THE BARRIOS OF NICARAGUA. SINCE ITS INCEPTION, THE WATER WELL PROJECT HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN DRILLING AND COMPLETING OVER 487 GOOD WATER WELLS, PROVIDING POTABLE WATER TO OVER 110,500 PEOPLE. FUNDS TO ADDRESS DRILLING EXPENSES WERE RAISED THROUGH THE COMBINED EFFORTS OF INDIVIDUAL DONORS, GIFTS FROM OTHER ROTARY CLUBS AND A PORTION OF EVENT PROCEEDS.
ABOVE AND BEYOND AWARDS: THE ABOVE AND BEYOND AWARDS RECOGNIZE TULSA'S POLICE OFFICER AND FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR. FOUNDED IN 2008, THE AWARDS RECOGNIZE THESE PUBLIC SERVANTS FOR OUTSTANDING ACTS OF CHARACTER, COMMITMENT AND COMPASSION TO BOTH THEIR PROFESSION AND COMMUNITY. NOMINATED BY THEIR PEERS, THESE AWARD RECIPIENTS HAVE GONE "ABOVE AND BEYOND" THE REQUIREMENTS OF DUTY AND EXEMPLIFY THE VALUES REFLECTED IN THE ROTARY FOUR-WAY TEST. AWARD NOMINATIONS WERE PROVIDED BY EACH DEPARTMENT AND AWARD RECIPIENTS WERE SELECTED BY A COMMITTEE OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF TULSA.
