FY 2021: BABY 1ST NETWORK (BFN) CONTINUES TO FOCUS ON COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND EDUCATION,PROMOTING INFANT HEALTH AND WELLNESS, AND SUPPORTING STATE-WIDE EFFORTS TO REDUCE THE RATE OFSLEEP-RELATED INFANT DEATH. IN 2021, OUR BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT ARM OF THE ORGANIZATION INCREASED CAPACITY BY PROVIDING WORKSHOPS TARGETED AT PROFESSIONALS IN THE FIELD AND FAMILIES THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED INFANT LOSS. THIS YEAR ALSO BROUGHT OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPAND OUR REACH ON A NATIONAL PLATFORM. WE SERVE AS AN AGENT FOR THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH. IN THIS ROLE, WE ARE TASKED WITH FACILITATING AND MONITORING THE COMPLIANCE OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS IN ENSURING LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENTS PROMPTLY NOTIFY OF INFANT DEATHS. OUR INFANT SAFE SLEEP MINI-GRANT PROGRAM WAS CREATED TO BUILD AWARENESS IN COMMUNITIES WHERE THE DISPARITIES IN SLEEP-RELATED INFANT DEATHS ARE RESUMING AFTER A PAUSE IN 2020 DUE TO COVID 19. VIRTUAL TRAINING WAS CONDUCTED THROUGHOUT 2021. ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT TO THE OHIO COLLABORATIVE TO PREVENT INFANT MORTALITY WAS PROVIDED WHICH PROMOTED AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TO SUPPORT THOSE AT MOST RISK TO EXPERIENCE THE DIRECT CONSEQUENCES OF INFANT DEATH AND SUBOPTIMAL BIRTH OUTCOMES; EXCHANGE OF NOVEL INTERVENTIONS AND PRACTICES DESIGNED TO IMPROVE BIRTH OUTCOMES IN OHIO; AND OPTIMIZATION OF RELEVANT DATA COLLECTION, ANALYSIS, AND DISSEMINATION AMONG STAKEHOLDER ORGANIZATIONS.
