Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
TO RAISE CRITICAL FUNDS FOR MINNESOTANS LIVING WITH DEVELOPMENTAL AND LEARNING DISABILITIES.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
THE MINNESOTA GOLF CHARITY EVENTS RAISES CHARITABLE FUNDS THROUGH TWO GOLF EVENTS AND LAWFUL CHARITABLE GAMBLING. ALL THE MONEY THAT WE DONATE TO OUR BENEFITING AGENCIES IS PROVIDED FOR OPERATING EXPENSES. FOR MANY NON-PROFIT AGENCIES, THE BULK OF THEIR CHARITABLE SUPPORT IS TIED TO SPECIFIC GRANT-FUNDED PROGRAMS. THIS CAN MAKE IT PARTICULARLY DIFFICULT FOR NON-PROFITS TO HANDLE THE DAY-TO-DAY WORK THEY NEED TO CARRY OUT SUPPORT OF THEIR PROGRAMS AND THEIR EMPLOYEES. THE PGA REACH FUNDING IS DESIGNED TO HELP THEM BRIDGE THIS GAP, A GAP WHICH ONLY GETS MORE DIFFICULT TO MANAGE IN A CHALLENGING ECONOMIC CLIMATE.
THE SECOND PRIMARY ACTIVITY OF THE PGA REACH IS TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY-WIDE VISIBILITY TO THE AGENCIES WE SUPPORT AND PEOPLE THEY SERVE. DUE TO THE LONGSTANDING TRADITION AND HISTORY OF OUR GOLF TOURNAMENTS, WE RECEIVE SIGNIFICANT LOCAL MEDIA COVERAGE FOR OUR EVENTS, WHICH IN TURN ALLOWS US TO FOCUS THE SPOTLIGHT ON THE PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATIONS THAT WE SUPPORT. THE COMMUNITY THEN RECEIVES MORE EDUCATION ABOUT THE VARIOUS DISABLILITIES THAT EXIST, AND THE NEEDS OF THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE WITH THESE DISABILITIES.
