TO ENHANCE CULTURAL LIFE AND ENGAGEMENT BY PRESENTING AND PRODUCING A WIDE RANGE OF PROGRAMMING OF THE HIGHEST ARTISTIC QUALITY, AND TO MAKE THE CONRAD PREBYS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER A VIBRANT AND INCLUSIVE HUB.

THE CONRAD PREBYS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (THE CONRAD) OPENED IN APRIL 2019 AND IS THE PERMANENT HOME OF LA JOLLA MUSIC SOCIETY (LJMS). LJMS IS THE LARGEST MULTIDISCIPLINARY PRESENTER IN SAN DIEGO AND ANNUALLY PRODUCES A NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED SUMMER FESTIVAL, SUMMERFEST. THE CONRAD HOSTS WORLD CLASS PERFORMANCES PRESENTED BY LJMS AS WELL AS OTHER SAN DIEGO ARTS PRESENTERS.DURING THE 2020-21 SEASON, THE ONGOING CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC LED TO THE SHUTTERING OF THE CONRAD AND COUNTLESS OTHER VENUES ACROSS THE GLOBE. LJMS WENT FORWARD WITH CREATIVE SOLUTIONS. A SUCCESSFUL GALA WAS HELD ON THE LAWN OF THE LODGE AT TORREY PINES WITH AUDIENCE DISTANCED AND ON HOTEL ROOM BALCONIES. TWO SOCIALLY DISTANCED PERFORMANCES -SOLO PIANO BRUNCH CONCERTS IN THE CONRAD'S COURTYARD BY ERIC LU - WERE HELD IN OCTOBER. LIVESTREAMED CONCERTS REPLACED LIVE PERFORMANCES THROUGH THE SPRING, FOLLOWED BY TWO LIVE SOCIALLY DISTANCED OUTDOOR PERFORMANCES IN JUNE. SUMMERFEST 2021 RESUMED WITH LIVE PERFORMANCES TO MUCH ACCLAIM.LA JOLLA MUSIC SOCIETY'S COMMITMENT TO PRESENTING AND PRODUCING PROGRAMMING OF THE HIGHEST ARTISTIC QUALITY EXTENDS BEYOND THE CONCERT HALL AND INTO ITS WORK IN THE SAN DIEGO COMMUNITY. IN 2020-21, GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING ENSEMBLE THIRD COAST PERCUSSION AND DANCERS FROM MOVEMENT 4 MOVEMENT SERVED AS LA JOLLA MUSIC SOCIETY'S SECOND EDUCATION AMBASSADORS, WORKING WITH SAN DIEGO STUDENTS ON AN INNOVATIVE COMPOSITION AND CHOREOGRAPHY PROJECT, CREATING A NEW WORK TITLED SPRING FLIGHT.
