TO CREATE AND MAINTAIN A MUSEUM TO BE A DEPOSITORY OF ARTICLES, OBJECTS AND DOCUMENTS OF LASTING HISTORICAL INTEREST OR VALUE PRIMARILY REGARDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE AREA SURROUNDING THE CITY OF BESSEMER, AL AND ITS ENVIRONS.

A DIRECTOR IS EMPLOYED BY THE MUSEUM AND ALONG WITH THE VOLUNTEER BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND VOLUNTEERS FROM THE COMMUNITY ASSISTING, THE MUSEUM IS OPEN TUESDAY THRU SATURDAY 9:00AM TO 3:00PM. DISPLAYS ARE CHANGED REGULARLY FEATURING ITEMS SUCH AS MILITARY ARTIFACTS, NATIVE AMERICAN ARTIFACTS, INDIVIDUAL DISPLAYS, MODEL RAILROAD DISPLAYS AND RAILROAD ARTIFACTS, ANTIQUE TOYS AND ANTIQUE CLOTHES LOANED OR GIVEN BY LOCAL FAMILIES.
LOCAL STUDENDS OF ART DISPLAY WORKS AS WELL AS LOCAL ARTISTS AND COLLECTORS DISPLAY WORKS AND COLLECTIONS FOR THE PUBLIC TO VIEW. LOCAL WRITERS HAVE THEIR WORKS ABOUT THE LOCAL AREA FOR SALE AT THE MUSEUM. LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHERS DISPLAY THEIR WORKS, WHICH CAN BEN PURCHASED AT THE MUSEUM. LOCAL MERCHANTS DISPLAY POSTERS AND FLYERS WHICH ADVERTISE EVENTS TO BE HELD AT THE MUSEUM, AND LOCAL CIVIC GROUPS ASSIST WITH HOLDING EVENTS AT THE MUSEUM. THE LOCAL NEWSPAPERS AND LOCAL TELEVISION STATIONS PUBLICIZE DISPLAYS AND OTHER EVENTS HELD AT THE MUSEUM.
