THE MISSION OF THE NEWPORT PUBLIC LIBRARY: TO BRING TOGETHER PEOPLE, IDEAS, AND INFORMATION FOR THE GOOD OF EVERY INDIVIDUAL AND THE COMMUNITY IT SERVES. THE LIBRARY AIMS TO BE A LEADING RESOURCE FOR INFORMATION AND THE CENTER FOR LIFELONG LEARNING IN OUR COMMUNITY.

NEWPORT PUBLIC LIBRARY PURCHASES AND MAINTAINS A VARIED COLLECTION OF LIBRARY MATERIALS FOR USE BY THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THIS INCLUDES BOOKS, MAGAZINES, NEWSPAPERS, AUDIOBOOKS, MUSIC, VIDEOS, AND OTHER MATERIALS OF BOTH EDUCATIONAL AND ENTERTAINMENT VALUE. ITEMS MAY BE CHECKED OUT BY REGISTERED BORROWERS, OR USED WITHIN THE LIBRARY. EXPENSES INCLUDE LIBRARY COLLECTION EXPENSES, PLUS THE EXPENSES OF HOUSING THEM (BUILDING AND OFFICE EXPENSES), WHICH ENTAILS THE ENTIRE EXPENSE FOR THE LIBRARY MINUS THE TWO EXPENSE CATEGORIES BELOW.
