Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
GARDEN PLANT COLLECTIONS AND EXHIBITS TUCSON BOTANICAL GARDENS (TBG) HAS CONSISTENTLY BEEN AWARDED IN THE MEDIA, THE BEST BOTANICAL GARDEN IN TUCSON BY THE COMMUNITY. IN 2023, TBG PLACED 4TH IN USA TODAY'S TOP 10 BEST BOTANICAL GARDENS AND EARNED AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR HORTICULTURAL SCIENCE LANDMARK STATUS. THE TBG'S COLLECTION EXCEEDS 7,000 PERENNIAL PLANTS AND ATTRACTS 150,000 GUESTS A YEAR. THERE ARE OVER 5,000 MEMBERS, 4 GALLERIES, GIFT SHOP, A LIVE TROPICAL BUTTERFLY & ORCHID EXHIBIT, EDNA'S EATERY CAF, AND ROTATING EXHIBITS.
EDUCATIONAL & OUTREACH PROGRAMS: TBG OFFERS CLASSES, WORKSHOPS & LECTURES TO PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, ABILITIES & BACKGROUNDS. IN A NORMAL YEAR OVER 12,000 CHILDREN PARTICIPATE IN YOUTH PROGRAMS AND TBG'S HORTICULTURAL THERAPY PROGRAM (HTP) WORKS WITH OVER 1,300 PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES THROUGH BOTH OUTREACH AND ON-SITE PROGRAMS. ADDITIONALLY, TBG OFFERS DISPLAYS AND EVENTS THROUGH THE YEAR THAT HIGHLIGHT TOPICS OF EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL INTEREST TO THE COMMUNITY. AN ANNUAL LECTURE SERIES IS PRODUCED TO BROADEN THE IMPACT OF THE ONSITE EXHIBITS.
SPECIAL EXHIBITS: THIS YEAR TBG FOCUSED ON THE NEW HOLIDAY LIGHT SHOW, LIGHTSUP WHICH RAN FOR 44 NIGHTS. IN THE SPRING SEAN KENNEY'S "NATURE POP" WAS FEATURED. CONNECTING PEOPLE TO NATURE THROUGH ART, EXHIBITS FEATURED LAURI KAYE, MIXED MEDIA SCULPTOR KYLE JOHNSTON, THE PHOENIX CHAPTER OF THE COLORED PENCIL SOCIETY OF AMERICA, SANTA FE ARTIST CLAYTON BASS, FIBER ARTISTS OF SOUTHERN ARIZONA, VISUAL ARTIST LEX GJURASIC, THE WORKS OF GAIL ROBERTS & STEVIE MACK, AND AN AUTHOR LECTURE SERIES INCLUDING WYNNE BROWN, DAVID YETMAN & MARTY EBERHARDT.
