THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE FOUNDATION IS TO ENGAGE IN AND CARRY OUT SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN THE FIELDS OF MEDICAL SCIENCE, MEDICAL ECONOMICS, PUBLIC HEALTH, SOCIOLOGY, AND RELATED AREAS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE INTERESTED PUBLIC, MEDICAL SCHOOLS AND THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY IN THE STATE OF LOUISIANA. THE FOUNDATION ALSO SUPPORTS MEDICAL AND PARA-MEDICAL EDUCATION AND THE PROFESSIONAL SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES THROUGH GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEVELOPING THE CAPABILITIES TO STUDY, TEACH AND PRACTICE MEDICINE IN AN EFFORT TO SERVE THE PUBLIC'S HEALTH NEEDS.
