THE CENTER FOR LOSS AND BEREAVEMENT PROVIDES SPECIALIZED COUNSELING AND PEER SUPPORT GROUPS FOR INDIVIDUALS OF ALL AGES AND ORGANIZATIONS / BUSINESSES CONFRONTED WITH PROFOUND GRIEF. ADDITIONALLY, GRIEF AWARENESS AND PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION TRAININGS / RESOURCES ARE REGULARLY SHARED THROUGHOUT OUR COMMUNITY.

1) INDIVIDUAL, COUPLE, AND FAMILY GRIEF COUNSELING: HELD 3820 THERAPY SESSIONS, SERVING HUNDREDS OF CLIENTS, FROM YOUNG CHILDREN TO SENIORS. COUNSELING FEES ARE PAID ON A SLIDING SCALE. THIS YEAR WE REDUCED FEES BY $78,360. 2)SPECIALIZED ADULT GRIEF SUPPORT GROUPS: THROUGH THIS FISCAL YEAR WE HELD 18 ADULT SUPPORT GROUPS (16 CLOSED GROUPS AND 2 OPEN/ONGOING GROUPS), SERVING 158 ADULTS THROUGH 131 TOTAL GROUP SESSIONS (APPROX 190 HOURS) FOR SPECIFIC LOSSES, INCLUDING: LOSS OF CHILD, LOSS OF SPOUSE, LOSS OF PARENT, LOSS OF SIBLING, LOSS DUE TO SUICIDE, LOSS DUE TO ADDICTION/OD, AND YOUNG ADULT GROUPS FOR MIXED LOSS(ES).
CHILDREN AND FAMILY-BASED PEER GROUP SUPPORT PROGRAMMING: 1) NELLO'S CORNER PROGRAM FOR GRIEVING CHILDREN (AGES 4-LATE TEEN) PROVIDED ON-GOING SUPPORT GROUPS FOR CHILDREN, TEENS, AND THEIR PARENT/CAREGIVERS (TOTAL 156 INDIVIDUALS, 82 CHILDREN AND TEENS; 74 ADULT CAREGIVERS), THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR; EACH OF THE 14 GROUPS MET APPROXIMATELY 18 TIMES OVER THE SPAN OF 9 MONTHS. THE PROGRAM IS COMPLETELY DONATION-BASED. 2) OUR ANNUAL SUMMER CAMP MILLIE PROGRAM FOR GRIEVING ELEMENTARY- AND MIDDLE-SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN WAS HELD THIS JUNE. FOR 4 DAYS WE SERVED 5 GROUPS TO FACILITATE BONDS AND HEALTHY COPING THROUGH THE SAFE EXPRESSION OF SHARED GRIEF. REGISTRATION FEES ARE NOMINAL AND SUPPORTED BY SCHOLARSHIPS TO BE SURE NO CHILD'S FINANCIAL ABILITY LIMITS PARTICIPATION IN THIS PROGRAM.
GRIEF EDUCATION AND OUTREACH: THE CENTER OFFERS PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION, PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS/DISCUSSIONS, AND RESOURCES/MATERIALS, MEETING NEEDS IN ADDED SUPPORT AND GRIEF-AWARENESS TO BUSINESSES, SCHOOLS, AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS.
