ANTHROCON'S MISSION IS TO OPERATE AN ANNUAL CONVENTION OF CARTOON ENTHUSIASTS. ACTIVITIES TYPICALLY INCLUDE LITERARY DISCUSSIONS, GUEST SPEAKERS, WORKSHOPS, AND ART SHOW, PERFORMANCES AND CHARITY EVENTS TO BENEFIT A LOCAL 501(C)3 ANIMAL WELFARE ORGANIZATION.

ANTHROCON CONDUCTED ITS ANNUAL ART SHOW IN WHICH ARTISTS ARE PROVIDED WITH SPACE TO DISPLAY THEIR WORK, ALONG WITH THE OPTION TO TAKE PART IN CONSIGNMENT SALES. ALL ARTWORK IS EXPECTED TO BE RELEVANT TO THE OVERALL THEME OF ANTHROPOMORPHIC (THAT IS, CARTOON) ANIMALS.
ANTHROCON HOSTED A LUNCHEON FOR ITS SPONSOR-LEVEL ATTENDEES TO SHOW APPRECIATION AND TO ENCOURAGE FUTURE SPONSORSHIP. GUEST SPEAKERS WERE ON HAND AT THE LUNCHEON IN ORDER TO PROVIDED FOR BOTH ENTERTAINMENT AND INFORMATIONAL DISCUSSIONS. THE PER-PERSON TICKET COST FOR THE LUNCHEON (EXCLUDING TAXES AND SURCHARGES) WAS INCLUDED IN THE REGISTRATION FEE FOR THE SPONSOR LEVELS.
IN ORDER TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF ATTENDEES IN LIGHT OF THE ONGOING COVID-19 PANDEMIC, ANTHROCON CONTRACTED WITH A LOCAL HEALTH AGENCY TO PROVIDE ONSITE TESTING FOR THE DISEASE, FOR WHICH A MODEST FEE WAS CHARGED. ONLY A SMALL NUMBER OF ATTENDEES REQUESTED TESTING, OPTING INSTEAD TO PROVIDE PROOF OF VACCINATION.
ANTHROCON SPONSORED A RIVER CRUISE INTENDED BOTH TO ALLOW ITS COSTUMED PERFORMERS AN OPPORTUNITY TO DISPLAY THEIR TALENTS TO A LARGER PUBLIC AUDIENCE, AND TO OFFER ATTENDEES AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE THE SIGHTS OF ANTHROCON'S HOST CITY OF PITTSBURGH. PAYMENT FOR THE CRUISE EXPENSES HAD BEEN MADE IN 2020 PRIOR TO THE ONSET OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, AND WAS APPLIED TO THE CURRENT CONVENTION AFTER BEING LISTED AS AN ASSET ON PRIOR TAX RETURNS AS A "PREPAID EXPENSE"
