THE UNITED WAY OF THE SHIPPENSBURG AREA IS A UNIFIED FUND RAISING ORGANIZATION WHICH SOLICITES CHARITABLE DONATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC AND DISTRIBUTES SUCH FUNDS TO THE VARIOUS CHARITABLE, CIVIC, AND SOCIAL WELFARE ORGANIZATIONS OF THE COMMUNITY.

THE UNITED WAY OF THE SHIPPENSBURG AREA ALLOCATES ITS CONTRIBUTIONS RECEIVED TO APPROXIMATELY THIRTY COMMUNITY CHARITABLE, CIVIC, AND SOCIAL WELFARE ORGANIZATIONS. THESE ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDE VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANIES, YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAMS, THE PUBLIC LIBRARY, AND THE COMMUNITY NURSE, AMONG OTHERS. THESE ORGANIZATIONS PROVIDE A WIDE VARIETY OF VITAL COMMUNITY PROGRAMS IN A SMALL RURAL COMMUNITY.
