THE MISSION OF THE JEAN BARNETT TRONE MEMORIAL LIBRARY, AN INDEPENDENT MEMBER LIBRARY OF THE ADAMS COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM, IS TO PROVIDE LIBRARY MATERIALS AND INFORMATION SERVICES TO COMMUNITY RESIDENTS OF ALL AGES FOR PERSONAL ENRICHMENT, ENJOYMENT AND EDUCATION NEEDS. THE LIBRARY HAS A SPECIAL MISSION TO YOUNG CHILDREN AND THEIR PARENTS TO ENCOURAGE A LOVE OF READING AND LEARNING.

IN 2020, THE BASEMENT CONSTRUCTION WAS COMPLETED INTO A NEWLY RENOVATED AND CONSTRUCTED SPACE FOR A TOTAL OF ABOUT 12,000 SQUARE FEET THAT PROVIDES THE GENERAL PUBLIC WITH LIBRARY FACILITIES AND SERVICES BY OPERATING A PUBLIC LIBRARY IN EAST BERLIN PENNSYLVANIA FOR PERSONAL ENRICHMENT, ENJOYMENT, AND EDUCATIONAL NEEDS. CIRCULATION OF LIBRARY MATERIALS WAS HAMPERED GREATLY BY THE COVID19 PANDEMIC. 41,754 ITEMS WERE CHECKED OUT FROM EAST BERLIN IN ABOUT 5 MONTHS OF BEING OPEN FOR THE YEAR. USE OF MEETING ROOMS HAS NOT BEEN AVAILABLE SINCE MARCH 2020. HOWEVER, THE JEAN BARNETT TRONE MEMORIAL LIBRARY WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FOR COLLECTION BROWSING AND CIRCULATION, PUBLIC COMPUTER AND WIFI USE, AND INFORMATION AND TECH ASSISTANCE SERVICES FOR A PORTION OF THE YEAR. ALTHOUGH THE CURRENT PANDEMIC HAS RESTRICTED IN-PERSON ACCESS, THE JEAN BARNETT TRONE MEMORIAL LIBRARY MOVED TO VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING FOR ALL AGES AS WELL AS "TAKE AND MAKE" BAGS THAT SUPPLEMENT THE PROGRAMS.
