Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
OTHER PROGRAMS OFFERED BY THE BLUE DEER CENTER TO PRESERVE SYMBOLS OF THE PAST BY PRESENTING PUBLIC WORKSHOPS, PROGRAMS AND SPECIAL EVENTS IN THEIR MAIN HOUSE, YURT CLASSROOM, AND TIPI
PLANT SPIRIT MEDICINE INCLUDES SEVERAL OFFERINGS, WISDOM OF THE DIVINE NATURAL WORLD (A 5-DAY PROGRAM TO IMMERSE THE PARTICIPANTS IN AN EXPLORATION OF THE LIVING NATURAL WORLD) AND HEALER TRAINING PROGRAM (A SERIES OF 8 WEEKLY PROGRAMS, HELD OVER THE COURSE OF 2 YEARS). ANCIENT CULTURES AND HEALERS HAVE KNOWN FOR MILLENNIA THAT THE MEDICINE OF PLANT SPIRITS CAN BRING US INTO BALANCE AND HARMONY, BUT MUCH OF THIS TRADITION HAS BEEN LOST IN THE WEST. THESE COURSES, DEVELOPED BY ELIOT COWAN, (A REVERED ACUPUNCTURE TEACHER AND AN INITIATED TSAURRIRIKAME, ELDER HUICHOL HEALER) BRING TOGETHER SHAMANIC TECHNIQUES WITH THE ANCIENT TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE FIVE ELEMENT PHILOSOPHY.
HEALING CAMP- THE BLUE DEER CENTER OFFERS 3 HEALING CAMPS PER YEAR SPRING, SUMMER AND FALL; COMPOSED OF FIVE DAYS OF INDIGENOUS HEALING IN THE HUICHOL TRADITION AT THE SACRED GROUND OF THE BLUE DEER CENTER. MEN AND WOMEN OF ALL AGES AND BACKGROUNDS DISCOVER THAT THE MEDICINE OF ANCESTRAL TRADITIONS RUNS DEEP AND EXERTS A POWERFUL HEALING EFFECT. THIS HEALING CAMP INCLUDES DAILY HEALING SESSIONS WITH TIME FOR CONTEMPLATION AND REFLECTION, GATHERING IN COMMUNITY AROUND THE WARMTH OF THE FIRE, AND OPPORTUNITIES TO CONNECT WITH THE NATURAL WORLD. THE CAMP PROVIDES A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE A TEMPORARY VILLAGE CREATED FOR THE PURPOSE OF BRINGING HUICHOL HEALING TO THE PARTICIPANTS BECAUSE LIVING, EVEN BRIEFLY, WITHIN A HEALTHY COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTES TO THEIR WELL-BEING. THE SACRED LAND OF THE CENTER SUPPORTS THE CAMP AND PROVIDES THE RIGHT CONDITIONS FOR HEALING TO OCCUR.
