TO SUPPORT AN OPEN EXCHANGE OF IDEAS AND RISK-TAKING BY WOMEN ARTISTS IN ORDER TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND VISIBILITY. AS AN ARTIST-RUN ORGANIZATION, A.I.R. FOSTERS INVOLVEMENT THROUGH MULTIPLE TIERS OF REPRESENTATION: NEW YORK, NATIONAL, ADJUNCT, AND ALUMNAE ARTISTS. A SELF-DIRECTED GOVERNING BODY, THE ORGANIZATION IS ALTERNATIVE TO MAINSTREAM INSTITUTIONS AND THRIVES ON THE NETWORK OF ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS. COLLABORATIONS AND PARTNERSHIPS WITH OUTSIDE ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS ENSURE A PLATFORM INFORMED BY A DIVERSE COMMUNITY AND REPRESENTATIVE OF BROAD VIEWS.

A.I.R. FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM FOR EMERGING ARTISTS: ANNUALLY PROVIDES 6 EMERGING AND UNDERREPRESENTED WOMEN AND NON-BINARY ARTISTS IN NEW YORK CITY WITH 12 MONTHS OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, MENTORSHIP, AND CURATORIAL SUPPORT, CULMINATING IN THEIR FIRST SOLO EXHIBITION IN NEW YORK CITY.


A.I.R. EXHIBITIONS PROGRAM: ANNUALLY PRESENTS 20 TO 25 SOLO AND CURATED GROUP EXHIBITIONS BY WOMEN AND NON-BINARY CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS, WHICH ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC YEAR-ROUND.


SPECIAL PROJECTS: INCLUDING THE A.I.R. BIENNIAL OPEN CALL EXHIBITION, ANNUAL POSTCARD SHOW, ART MAKING WORKSHOPS AT LOCAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTERS, AND FISCAL SPONSORSHIP OF MISSION-ALIGNED, ARTIST-DRIVEN PROJECTS.
