CURRAN HOMESTEAD VILLAGE HAS A NEW MISSION THAT SEEKS TO COLLECT, PRESERVE, AND UTILIZE ARTIFACTS FOR EXHIBITS, LIVING HISTORY, TRADITIONAL ARTS, AND HANDS-ON EDUCATION. THE MUSEUM HAS A SECOND CAMPUS IN NEWFIELD, IN SOUTHWESTERN MAINE, THAT INCLUDES 25 BUILDINGS AND MORE THAN 10,000 ARTIFACTS. COMBINED WITH THE FIELDS POND CAMPUS, THE MUSEUM SAW 3000 VISITORS. AT NEWFIELD, THERE ARE WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS YEAR- ROUND; THERE IS A SCHOOL FIELD TRIP PROGRAM THAT SERVES MORE THAN TWO DOZEN SCHOOLS. FIELDS POND IS DEVELOPING SIMILAR OPPORTUNITIES. SEASONAL EVENTS AT BOTH CAMPUSES INCLUDE MAPLE SUGARING, ICE HARVESTING, ANTIQUE TRACTORS AND MACHINERY, HORSE DRAWN SLEDS, WOODWORKING, BLACKSMITHING AND DOMESTIC ARTS. A MAPLE SUGARING AND IRISH CELEBRATION FEATURES FOOD, SYRUP PRODUCTION, HORSE DRAWN WAGONS, BLACKSMITHING. OLD HOME WEEK FEATURES FOOD, TRADITIONAL ARTS, SILENT MOVIES, MUSIC, AND WORKSHOPS. A HARVEST FESTIVAL INCLUDES APPLE CIDER MAKING, WAGON RIDES, ANTIQUE VEHICLE COMPETITION, MUSIC, ARTS & CRAFTS, ANTIQUE ENGINE REPAIR, AND TRADITIONAL ARTS. CHILDREN'S CLASSES INCLUDE DOMESTIC ARTS, FIBER ARTS, ELECTRIC LAMP BUILDING, CRYSTAL RADIOS, TELEGRAPHY, LETTERPRESS PRINTING, BLACKSMITHING, AND METAL CASTING.
