THE RHODE ISLAND COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS SEEKS COMPREHENSIVE AND COOPERATIVE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS OF HOUSING AND HOMELESSNESS. DURING THE YEAR, THE COALITION CONTINUED TO ADVOCATE FOR HOUSING RESOURCES, WHILE OPERATING SEVERAL DIRECT SERVICE PROGRAMS. MAJOR EFFORTS INCLUDED SERVING HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE THROUGH THE HOMELESS LEGAL CLINIC, DISTRIBUTING OVER THOUSANDS OF COPIES OF THE STREET SHEET GUIDES TO FOOD AND SHELTER, COORDINATING DISCHARGE PLANNING, EMPLOYMENT INITIATIVES AND TRAINING FOR SHELTER AND HOUSING PROVIDER MEMBER AGENCIES, PROVIDING HOUSING SEARCH AND RETENTION EDUCATION, AND WORKING WITH THE MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE COMMUNITIES ON A CONSENSUS WITH THE MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE COMMUNITIES ON A CONSENSUS
