GOOD COUNSEL HOMES IS A CATHOLIC, FAITH BASED, PRO-LIFE, NON-PROFIT RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM FOR HOMELESS SINGLE PREGNANT WOMEN AND CHILDREN. WE ARE CURRENTLY LOCATED IN NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY WITH A NATIONAL HELPLINE AND ONLINE PRESENCE. WE BELIEVE IN THE SANCTITY OF LIFE FROM THE MOMENT OF CONCEPTION TO NATURAL DEATH.

SHELTER: GOOD COUNSEL OPERATES FROM A POLICY OF OPEN INTAKE WHICH MEANS WE ACCEPT ANY HOMELESS PREGNANT OR PARENTING WOMEN AND CHILDREN. OUR HOTLINE IS ANSWERED 24 HOURS A DAY, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK. THERE ARE NO REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION INTO OUR PROGRAM EXCEPT TO BE PREGNANT AND HOMELESS. GOOD COUNSEL PROVIDES SERVICE FOR THOSE IN NEED THROUGH FOUR LOCATIONS IN NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY. DURING THE CALENDAR YEAR 2021, GOOD COUNSEL ASSISTED 137 WOMEN AND 70 CHILDREN IN OUR HOMES. WE ENABLE 24 WOMEN TO GIVE BIRTH.
CASE PLANNING: EVERY MOTHER ADMITTED INTO A GOOD COUNSEL HOME IS ASSIGNED A TRAINED CASE MANAGER WHO WORKS WITH HER TO CREATE AN INDIVIDUALIZED CASE PLAN FOR HER AND HER BABY. CASE PLANS INCLUDE IMMEDIATE, SHORT AND LONG-TERM GOALS. THE FOCUS OF THE PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE THE WOMEN WITH THE TOOLS NECESSARY TO BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT MEMBERS OF SOCIETY AND A GOOD PARENT. THE PROGRAM ALSO ADDRSSSES THE WOMEN'S EMOTIONAL AND SPIRITUAL GROWTH.
SUPPORT SERVICES: GOOD COUNSEL PROVIDES INTERNAL CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES, COUNSELING, LIFE SKILLS CLASSES WHICH INCLUDES BUT NOT LIMITED TO: PARENTING, HEALTH, NUTRITION, SOCIAL SKILLS, SPIRITUALITY AND JOB PREPARENESS INCLUDING RESUME WRITING, INTEREVIEW SKILLS AND CLOTHING. WE PROVIDE CHILD CARE. WE OFFER EXTERNAL REFERRALS AND ARE LINKED TO COMMUNITY PROGRAMS.
