LVA RECRUITS, TRAINS AND SUPPORTS VOLUNTEER TUTORS TO PROVIDE INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION TO ADULTS FUNCTIONING AT THE LOWEST LITERACY LEVELS. STUDENTS ARE ASSESSED AND MATCHED WITHTUTORS WHO MEET WITH THEM IN PUBLIC PLACES SUCH AS LIBRARIES AND CHURCHES. STUDENTS SET THEIR OWN LITERACY GOALS SUCH AS GAINING EMPLOYMENT, PREPARING FOR THE US CITIZENSHIP TEST, OBTAINING A DRIVER'S LICENSE OR PREPARING FOR GED INSTRUCTION.
