THE MISSION OF THE CATSKILL FOREST ASSOCIATION IS TO PROMOTE FOREST STEWARDSHIP IN THE CATSKILL REGION BY FOREST LANDOWNERS, TIMBER HARVESTERS, FORESTERS, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE ASSOCIATION ADVOCATES QUALITY FOREST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES, FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPROVING THE HEALTH OF THE FOREST, PREVENTING THREATS TO THE FOREST ECOSYSTEM, AND SUPPORTING CONSERVATION EFFORTS.

THE TEACHING OF PROPER MANAGEMENT OF FORESTS TO LANDOWNERS, FORESTERS,TIMBER HARVESTERS, INDUSTRY, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC, INCLUDING THE IMPROVEMENT OF FORESTS FOR WILDLIFE, RECREATION, AESTHETICS AND BETTER GROWTH OF STANDING TIMBER BY SELECTING, TRIMMING AND HARVESTING TREES. THIS PURPOSE IS ACHIEVED THROUGH WOODSWALKS, ON-SITE EDUCATIONAL VISITS WITH LANDOWNERS, COLLABORATION WITH OTHER NATURAL RESOURCE ORGANIZATIONS AND AGENCIES, AND DISTRIBUTION OF FOREST MANAGEMENT LITERATURE.
