TO ACT AS A CENTRAL ORGANIZATION FOR ALL FIBER INTEREST GROUPS IN THE MID- ATLANTIC UNITED STATES WHICH CHOOSE TO BECOME MEMBER GROUPS OF THE ASSOCIATION. TO ENCOURAGE COOPERATION AMONG THE FIBER GROUPS IN THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION OF THE UNITED STATES. TO PLAN, ORGANIZE, AND CONDUCT CONFERENCES AND OTHER EVENTS FOR EDUCATION AND COMMUNICATION IN THE FIBER ARTS FIELD.

CONFERENCES - A CENTRAL FOCUS FOR MIDATLANTIC FIBER ASSOCIATION (MAFA) IS ITS BIENNIAL CONFERENCE, WHICH OFFERS IN DEPTH STUDY WORKSHOPS WITH LEADING FIBER ARTISTS. INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS OF PARTICIPATING GUILDS ENJOY PRIORITY REGISTRATION TIME AND REDUCED REGISTRATION FEES TO THE EVENT. MAFA HAS ALSO STARTED OFFERING VIRTUAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, ALLOWING MORE INDIVIDUALS THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE.


GRANT PROGRAMS: MAFA OFFERS GRANT, FELLOWSHIP AND SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS TO SUPPORT PARTICIPATING GUILDS IN THEIR EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAMS; GUILD MEMBERS COMMITTED TO SHARING LEARNING EXPERIENCES; AND NOVICES LEARNING FIBER ARTS SKILLS.
