THE YMCA OF GREATER BERGEN COUNTY IS A CAUSE-DRIVEN ORGANIZATION THAT IS FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, HEALTHY LIVING AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY.

Part 3 - Line 4a

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES INCLUDE RESIDENTIAL HOUSING, WELLNESS CLASSES, TEEN PROGRAMS AND YOUTH SPORTS. WITH A MISSION CENTERED ON BALANCE, OUR YMCA BRINGS FAMILIES CLOSER TOGETHER, ENCOURAGES GOOD HEALTH AND FOSTERS CONNECTIONS THOUGH FITNESS, SPORT, SUPPORT SERVICES, FUN AND SHARED INTERESTS. AS A RESULT THE YOUTH, ADULTS AND FAMILIES ARE RECEIVING THE SUPPORT, GUIDANCE AND RESOURCES NEEDED TO ACHIEVE GREATER HEALTH AND WELL BEING FOR THEIR SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY.


AQUATICS: PROVIDED PROGRESSIVE LEVEL SWIM LESSONS TO OVER 2,000 INDIVIDUALS; AGES 4 TO 65 PLUS. THE YMCA PROVIDED $1,400 IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO ENABLE CHILDREN TO LEARN TO SWIM AND DEVELOP THE SKILLS NEEDED TO KEEP THEM SAFE AROUND WATER.

OUR SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE PROGRAM PROVIDED AFTER SCHOOL CARE FOR MORE THAN 315 CHILDREN EACH DAY DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. THE YMCA DISTRIBUTED OVER $47,850 IN SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE TO MORE THAN 60 CHILDREN OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR. PROGRAM ACTIVITIES INCLUDED HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE, FIELD TRIPS, HEALTH EDUCATION, PHYSICAL EDUCATION, AND PROGRESSIVE SWIM LESSONS. WE BELIEVE THAT ALL KIDS DESERVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCOVER WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY CAN ACHIEVE AND THAT ALL CHILDREN NEED A SAFE, NURTURING ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH TO LEARN, GROW AND DEVELOP THE SOCIAL SKILLS THEY WILL NEED IN LIFE. WE PROVIDE JUST THAT ENVIRONMENT.
