INSPIRED BY JEWISH VALUES, NCJW STRIVES FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE BY IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR WOMEN, CHILDREN, AND FAMILIES AND BY SAFEGUARDING INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS.

CENTER FOR WOMEN:THE CENTER FOR WOMEN PROVIDES SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN. CAREER SERVICES PROGRAM PROVIDES SUPPORT TO ALL WOMEN LOOKING TO RE-ENTER THE JOB MARKET.MAJOR CAREER SERVICE PROGRAMS INCLUDE THE DISPLACED HOMEMAKER PROGRAM, WHICH SERVES WOMEN WHO ARE OR HAVE BECOME THE PRIMARY WAGE EARNERS IN THEIR FAMILIES DUE TO DEATH, DIVORCE, A DISABLED SPOUSE OR SOMEONE IN THE MILITARY. ADDITIONAL SERVICES ARE LEGAL ASSISTANCE, PROGRAMS WHICH IMPROVE JOB SUPPORT, SELF ESTEEM AND SELF EMPOWERMENT FOR WOMEN, FUNDING (CONT'D) FOR EDUCATIONAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS, COMPUTER CLASSES AND TEEN DATING ABUSE AWARENESS PROGRAM.
VOLUNTEER OUTREACH:THE VOLUNTEER OUTREACH PROJECT PROVIDES A WIDE RANGE OF VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES,VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION, AND ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES TO MEMBERS. VOLUNTEER OUTREACH PROJECTS INCLUDE CREATIVE HANDS - A PROJECT WHICH PROVIDES HANDMADE KNITTED GOODS TO LOCAL AGENCIES, AND THE ESKOWCOMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD WHICH PROVIDES CASH AWARDS TO LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLSENIORS INVOLVED IN COMMUNITY SERVICE. THE VOLUNTEER OUTREACH PROJECT ALSO OFFERS A WIDE RANGE OF ONE SHOT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES CALLED MITZVAH IN A MINUTE.
BACK 2 SCHOOL STORE (B2SS):EACH YEAR, THE NCJW/ESSEX'S B2SS OUTFITS 1,000 PLUS CHILDREN IN FINANCIAL NEED WITH ESSENTIAL SCHOOL ITEMS LIKE A BACKPACK, SCHOOL SUPPLIES, WINTER COAT, SOCKS AND UNDERWEAR, AND TOILETRIES. THE B2SS ALSO PROVIDES THE PARENTS OF THESE CHILDREN WITH INFORMATION, RESOURCES AND SUPPORT SERVICES.
