EQUITABLE DEVELOPMENT THE EQUITABLE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ADVOCATES FOR AND SUPPORTS POLICIES, PRACTICES AND COALITIONS THAT PROMOTE COMMUNITY ASSET BUILDING, COMMUNITY STEWARDSHIP OF LAND AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND PROMOTES EQUITABLE GROWTH WITHOUT COMMUNITY AND CULTURAL DISPLACEMENT. WITH OUR SOUTH CORE COALITION OF SOUTH SEATTLE BASED ORGANIZATIONS, WE ADVOCATED FOR NEW PROGRESSIVE REVENUE GENERATION AT THE CITY OF SEATTLE, AND FOR 200 MILLION OF NEW DEDICATED REVENUE FOR THE CITY OF SEATTLE'S EQUITABLE DEVELOPMENT FUND THAT WILL HELP COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS LEAD THEIR OWN DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS. OUR COMMUNITY REAL ESTATE STEWARDSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM TRAINED 20 LEADERS FROM COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS IN MODELS OF COMMUNITY LAND OWNERSHIP, REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS, FINANCE AND FUNDRAISING TO ADVANCE THEIR COMMUNITY-LED DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS.
CLIMATE JUSTICE OUR CLIMATE JUSTICE PROGRAM PUBLISHED THE RESULTS OF 18-MONTHS OF COMMUNITY-BASED PARTICIPATORY RESEARCH ENTITLED POWERING THE TRANSITION: COMMUNITY PRIORITIES FOR A RENEWABLE AND EQUITABLE FUTURE. WE EDUCATED OUR COMMUNITIES AND ELECTED OFFICIALS ABOUT THE PRIORITIES IN THE REPORT, AND USED THE FINDINGS TO KEEP ALL WASHINGTON RESIDENTS CONNECTED TO UTILITIES DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC THROUGH THE ADOPTION OF UTILITY MORATORIUM SHUT-OFF POLICIES, AND DEBT RELIEF PROGRAMS.
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT WE TRAINED NEW FELLOWS IN OUR COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE, A SIX- MONTH FELLOWSHIP THAT TRAINS EMERGING LEADERS IN ISSUES SUCH AS HOUSING, LAND USE, TRANSIT, CLIMATE, AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. GRADUATES LEARNED THE NUTS AND BOLTS OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT PROCESSES, SUCH AS MUNICIPAL BUDGETING, PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURES, AND LAWMAKING, AS WELL AS ADVOCACY, STORYTELLING, AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS. 69% OF GRADUATES CURRENTLY SERVE ON BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS AT THE CITY, COUNTY, AND STATE LEVEL.
