HAN SERVED AS AN EFFECTIVE ADVOCATE AND RESOURCE FOR HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE PROVIDERS THROUGHOUT 2022. THROUGH DIRECT ADVOCACY AND LOBBYING OF THE WHITE HOUSE, HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, CENTERS FOR MEDICARE AND MEDICAID, FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION, OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT AND BUDGET, AND CONGRESS, HAN AMPLIFIED THE VOICE OF HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE PROVIDERS, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. HAN SUCCESSFULLY ADVOCATED FOR EXTENSIONS OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY, INCLUDING KEY TELEHEALTH FACE-TO-FACE CERTIFICATION POLICIES, INCLUSION OF THE PALLIATIVE CARE AND HOSPICE EDUCATION AND TRAINING ACT LANGUAGE INTO INITIAL VERSIONS OF THE BUILD BACK BETTER LEGISLATION, ALL WHILE PREVENTING DEVASTATING CUTS. ON THE REGULATORY FRONT, HAN SUCCEEDED IN SECURING A HIGHER REIMBURSEMENT RATE PARTIALLY REFLECTING THE HIGH RATE OF INFLATION AND PLACED KEY CHAMPIONS ON THE TECHNICAL EXPERT PANEL FOR THE SPECIAL FOCUS PROGRAM. HAN HELD THE FIRST IN-PERSON FLY-IN SINCE COVID-19 AND HELPED OUR ADVOCATES MEET WITH MORE THAN 100 CONGRESSIONAL OFFICES INCLUDING OVER 20 MEMBER LEVEL MEETINGS. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, OUR ADVOCATES PROMOTED POLICIES TO FIX VBID, EXPAND THE WORKFORCE THROUGH EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND INCREASED IMMIGRATION, ADDITIONAL HOSPICE TELEHEALTH TRANSPARENCY, NEW BEREAVEMENT FUNDING, CONCURRENT CARE, AND COMMUNITY BASED PALLIATIVE CARE. TO FURTHER PROTECT PATIENTS AND FAMILIES, HAN WAS CRITICAL IN BRINGING ATTENTION TO A GROWING ISSUE WITHIN HOSPICE FRAUDULENT PAPER HOSPICES IN CALIFORNIA, TEXAS, NEVADA, AND ARIZONA. LASTLY, TO SUPPORT OUR CONGRESSIONAL CHAMPIONS, HAN LAUNCHED THE HOSPICE ACTION NETWORK POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE (HAN PAC) IN TIME FOR THE 2022 FEDERAL ELECTION. ALL HAN PAC SUPPORTING CANDIDATES WERE SUCCESSFUL IN THEIR REELECTION CAMPAIGNS.
