UNTIL IT IS SELF SUFFICIENT, RACHEL'S FRESH BAKERY HAS NEEDED SOME FUNDING TO MAINTAIN THE DEMAND FOR BREAD BY SUPPLYING BREAD TO THE SCHOOL AS PART OF THE LUNCH PROGRAM; SUPPORTING THE SALARIES OF THE WORKERS, BUYING BAKING SUPPLIES AND SUPPLYING SOME UPGRADED AND NEW EQUIPMENT. THE FOUNDATION SUPPORTS AND MAINTAINS THE LUPHISI SOUP KITCHEN THROUGH THE DONATION OF FOOD AS WELL AS KITCHENWARE AND APPLIANCES. THEY WORK WITH ANOTHER ORGANIZATION TO AID IN THE NUTRITIONAL WELL-BEING OF ORPHANS. ANOTHER ASPECT OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO TEACH THE PEOPLE MORE ABOUT HYGIENE AND AIDS AWARENESS, HOPEFULLY DECREASING FUTURE ILLNESSES. THE NUMBER OF ORPHANS BEING SUPPORTED BY THE SOUP KITCHEN HAS DOUBLED, REACHING 1,200 CHILDREN AND HAS REMAINED THE SAME FOR THE PAST FOUR YEARS. ANOTHER DONATION WAS SENT TO THE DREAMFIELDS PROJECT WHICH WORKS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO PUT RESOURCES FOR PLAYING SOCCER INTO TOWNSHIP AND RURAL SCHOOLS ACROSS SOUTH AFRICA. THE FOUNDATION SENT
TEACHING AIDS FOR CLASS ROOMS, BOOKS AND FLASH CARDS, DICTIONARIES, SCISSORS, CRAYONS & COLORING BOOKS AND TOUGHIE SHOES WERE DISTRIBUTED TO SCHOOL CHILDREN AT LUPHISI, MPAKENI, NCAKINI AND MATSULU VILLAGE SCHOOLS. OTHER DELIVERIES TO SEVERAL SCHOOLS INCLUDED CRAYONS, COLORING BOOKS, SCHOOL SUPPLIES, SOCCER BALLS, BEACH BALLS, BALLOONS, PUMPS AND PLAYDOUGH WITH TOYS. BUILDING REPAIRS WERE MADE AT THE LEPISI SCHOOL. APPLIANCES AND TABLES WERE DONATIED TO THE LEPISI SCHOOL KITCHEN. CLASSROOM SUPPLIES, TEACHING AIDS AND TOYS WERE GIVEN TO THE NCAKENI ILUNGELO PRESCHOOL. RACHEL'S FRESH BAKERY HAD ITS GRAND OPENING AND SHOSHOLOZA IS SUPPORTING THE SALARIES AND PURCHASING SUPPLIES UNTIL IT CAN BE SELF-SUSTAINING THROUGH ITS SALES. THE BAKERY WILL SUPPLY BREAD FOR FREE TO THE SCHOOL CHILDREN. DONATIONS TO THE LUPHISI AND MPAKENI CLINICS PATIENT AND TREATMENT SUPPLIES.
