THE WILLIAM D RUCKELSHAUS CENTER FOUNDATION EXISTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUPPORTING THE PROGRAMS, INITIATIVES, AND PROPERTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE WILLIAM D. RUCKELSHAUS CENTER, A JOINT PROJECT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON AND WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY. THE MISSION OF THE CENTER IS TO ACT AS A NEUTRAL RESOURCE FOR COLLABORATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING. ITS AIM IS TO PROVIDE EXPERTISE THAT IMPROVES THE AVAILABILITY AND QUALITY OF VOLUNTARY COLLABORATIVE APPROACHES TO POLICY DEVELOPMENT AND MULTI-PARTY DISPUTE RESOLUTION.

CIVIL PUBLIC DISCOURSE:WE ARE ABLE TO ADVANCE THE RUCKELSHAUS CENTERS WORK BRINGING THE EXPERTISE OF OUR STATES PREMIER RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS TO HELP COMMUNITY MEMBERS, BUSINESS LEADERS, AND GOVERNMENT DECISION MAKERS COLLABORATIVELY TACKLE COMPLEX, AND OFTEN, CONTROVERSIAL, POLICY CHALLENGES. THE RUCKELSHAUS CENTER BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER TO SORT THROUGH INFORMATION, BUILD UNDERSTANDING, AND SOLVE PROBLEMS TO IMPROVE COMMUNITIES AND THE STATE OF WASHINGTON.
COLLABORATIVE CAPACITY BUILDING:BUILDING COLLABORATIVE CAPACITY PLAYS A VITAL ROLE IN FULFILLING THE CENTERS MISSION AND VISION TO BUILD THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND RELATIONSHIPS FOR COLLABORATIVE GOVERNANCE IN WASHINGTON STATE AND THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. THE PURPOSE OF THE CENTERS COLLABORATIVE CAPACITY BUILDING INITIATIVE IS TO HELP INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND, INITIATE, PARTICIPATE IN, AND LEAD COLLABORATIVE PUBLIC POLICY EFFORTS.
LEARNING FROM RESPONSES TO COVID-19:COVID-19 RESPONSE AND RECOVERY REQUIRE EFFECTIVE CRISIS DECISION-MAKING AND FURTHER INNOVATION TO ADDRESS CRITICAL NEEDS, POLICY CHALLENGES, AND INFRASTRUCTURE GAPS.
