WE PURSUE INNOVATIVE WAYS TO TRANSFORM HEALTH CARE BY KEEPING PEOPLE HEALTHY, AND MAKING OUR SERVICES MORE CONVENIENT, ACCESSIBLE AND AFFORDABLE FOR ALL. IN AN INCREASINGLY UNCERTAIN WORLD, WE ARE COMMITTED TO HIGH-QUALITY, COMPASSIONATE CARE FOR EVERYONE - REGARDLESS OF COVERAGE OR ABILITY TO PAY. IN 2021, OUR SUSTAINABLE AND INCLUSIVE PURCHASING PROGRAM COMMITTED TO INCREASE OUR SPEND WITH WOMEN AND MINORITY OWNED BUSINESS ENTERPRISES BY OVER $300 MILLION ACROSS THE NEXT FIVE YEARS. WE ALSO DEPLOY AN INVESTING PORTFOLIO WHICH INCLUDES SHAREHOLDER ADVOCACY, IMPACT INVESTING, AND SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS PORTFOLIO SCREENS. IN 2021, PROVIDENCE MADE PROGRESS TOWARDS ITS CLIMATE COMMITMENT TO BECOME CARBON NEGATIVE BY 2030. WE ARE IMPLEMENTING AN ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP SYSTEM STRATEGY THAT ENCOURAGES WASTE REDUCTIONS, EFFICIENT ENERGY AND WATER USE, LOCAL AGRICULTURE PARTNERSHIPS, LESS TOXIC AND FEWER CHEMICAL USE, AND A REDUCTION IN CARBON FROM TRAVEL.REALIZING OUR MISSIONESTABLISHED IN 1985, THE ST. JOSEPH HEALTH COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP FUND WAS THE VISION OF THE SISTERS OF ST. JOSEPH OF ORANGE WITH A MISSION TO SERVE AS AN EXTENSION OF CHRIST'S HEALING MINISTRY, BY PROVIDING FUNDING AND ASSISTANCE FOR IMPROVING THE HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF THE ECONOMICALLY POOR, AND UTILIZING THE STRENGTHS AND DIVERSITY OF OUR NEIGHBORS TO BUILD VIBRANT COMMUNITIES.THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED BY MANAGING AND ALLOCATING RESOURCES TO COMMUNITIES AND PARTNERS OF GOODWILL ENGAGED IN INNOVATIVE AND EFFECTIVE INITIATIVES TO SERVE THE COMMON GOOD.PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTSST. JOSEPH COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP FUND ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT BELIEVES WE HAVE A SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND A MORAL OBLIGATION TO RESPOND TO THE NEEDS OF LOW-INCOME FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS SERVED BY OUR MINISTRIES. IN 1986, ST. JOSEPH HEALTH (SJH) CREATED A PLAN AND BEGAN AN EFFORT TO FURTHER ITS COMMITMENT TO NEIGHBORS IN NEED. WITH A VISION OF REACHING BEYOND THE WALLS OF ITS HEALTHCARE FACILITIES AND TRANSCENDING TRADITIONAL EFFORTS OF PROVIDING FREE CARE FOR THOSE IN NEED OF ACUTE CARE SERVICES, SJH CREATED THE ST. JOSEPH COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP FUND (THE FUND) TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF LOW-INCOME INDIVIDUALS RESIDING IN ITS LOCAL COMMUNITIES. THE FUND HAS CONTRIBUTED OVER $336 MILLION TOWARD PROGRAMS THAT ADDRESS THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF LOW-INCOME INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN AREAS SURROUNDING THE HOSPITALS. THROUGH THE FUND'S STRATEGIC GRANT MAKING PROGRAMS, SIGNIFICANT OUTCOMES HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED IN COMMUNITY HEALTH SETTINGS AND CLINICS, NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, AND LOCAL SJH HOSPITAL MINISTRIES.THE ST. JOSEPH COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP FUND HAS A NUMBER OF FUNDING INITIATIVES, INCLUDING THE COMMUNITY BUILDING INITIATIVE, EMERGENCY FOOD AND SHELTER INITIATIVE, THE DISASTER RELIEF INITIATIVE AND UPCOMING EDUCATION INTIATIVE.COMMUNITY BUILDING INITIATIVETHE COMMUNITY BUILDING INITIATIVE (CBI) WAS CREATED IN 2000 AS A MAJOR COMMITMENT TO MEETING THE FUND'S MISSION. THE FUND'S DESIRED LONG-TERM VISION FOR ITS COMMUNITY BUILDING INITIATIVE IS THE DEVELOPMENT OF RESIDENT-BASED CAPACITY TO DETERMINE AND IMPLEMENT POSITIVE CHANGE IN LOW INCOME COMMUNITIES. THIS CAPACITY IS DEVELOPED THROUGH COMMUNITY-BASED WORK ON ONE ISSUE OF CONCERN TO THE COMMUNITY.INTERSECTIONS INITIATIVETHE INTERSECTIONS INITIATIVE BRINGS TOGETHER PARTNERSHIPS FROM SEVEN CALIFORNIA COMMUNITIES SERVED BY PROVIDENCE ST. JOSEPH HEALTH SYSTEM WITH THE GOAL OF ADVANCING EQUITY BY ADDRESSING THE COMMUNITY CONDITIONS THAT SHAPE HEALTH, SAFETY, AND WELLBEING. GUIDED BY INPUT FROM LOCAL RESIDENTS AND KEY STAKEHOLDERS, THE SEVEN INTERSECTIONS COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS ARE TAKING ON ISSUES AS DIVERSE AS AFFORDABLE HOUSING, EDUCATION, ECONOMIC AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT, IMMIGRATION, COMMUNITY TRAUMA, AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT. COMMUNITY RECOVERY AND RESILIENCE INITIATIVETHE COMMUNITY RECOVERY AND RESILIENCE INITIATIVE (CRRI) SUPPORTS COMMUNITIES SERVICED BY PROVIDENCE ST. JOSEPH HEALTH AS THEY CONTINUE TO FACE AND RECOVER FROM THE IMPACT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. IN SUPPORT OF THIS OBJECTIVE, THE ST. JOSEPH COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP FUND PROVIDES CAPACITY BUILDING GRANTS TO EXISTING REGIONAL COLLABORATIVES THAT WANT TO STRENGHTHEN THEIR ABILITY TO SERVE THEIR COMMUNITIES IN THE CONCEXT OF COVID-19 RECOVERY. SUPPORTING REGIONAL COLLABORATIVES AT THIS CRITICAL TIME WILL HELP REGIONS TO WORK EFFECTIVELY TOGETHER TO ADDRESS COMMUNITY ISSUES, WHICH IN TURN WILL STRENGTHEN BOTH THE COMMUNITY AND THE NONPROFIT SECTOR TO BE BETTER POSITIONED TOWARDS THE AIM OF EQUITY AND JUSTICE. COMMUNITY CAPACITY INITIATIVETHE COMMUNITY CAPACITY INITIATIVE SUPPORTS REGIONAL NONPROFITS OR COLLABORATIVES TO BUILD CAPACITY IN THE FORM OF INFRASTRUCTURES, PROCESSES, AND SYSTEMS. EACH EFFORT AIMS TO ADDRESS REGIONAL PRIORITIES AS IDENTIFIED BY THE PARTNERING HOSPITAL MINISTRIES' COMMUNITY HEALTH IMPROVEMENT PLAN IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE FUND'S FOCUS AREAS (HOUSING, EDUCATION, DISASTER RELIEF, AND CAPACITY BUILDING). THROUGH GRANTMAKING AND TECHINCAL ASSISTANCE, GRANTEE PARTNERS WILL REACH SUSTAINABILITY FOR DEISIRED PROGRAMS AND SERVICES TO MEET COMMUNITY NEEDS. DISASTER RELIEF FUNDINGTHE ST. JOSEPH COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP FUND CONSIDERS NEEDS ARISING FROM THE OCCURRENCE OF DISASTERS AND UNFORESEEN EMERGENCY NEEDS NATIONALLY AND THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. THROUGH RESPONSIVE GRANTMAKING, THE FUND WORKS TO ADDRESS THE POVERTY AND SUFFERING THAT OFTEN FOLLOW CATASTROPHIC EVENTS.DISASTER RELIEF FUNDING WAS PROVIDED TO U.S.-BASED, NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THAT PROVIDE RELIEF EFFORTS IN THE U.S. AND ABROAD. THESE ORGANIZATIONS HAVE PROVEN EXPERTISE IN RECONSTRUCTION, DEVELOPMENT AID AND IN REBUILDING COMMUNITIES.EDUCATION INITIATIVE THE EDUCATION INITIATIVE IS A TARGETED INVESTMENT STRATEGY WITH FOCUS AREAS CENTERED ON THE SCHOOL-TO-PRISON PIPELINE, PRENATAL TO THREE, AND COMMUNITY WELLNESS, SAFETY, AND LIBERATION EDUCATION. THE FUND WILL SCALE THE WORK CENTERED ON CAPACITY BUILDING SO COMMUNITIES CAN SUSTAIN TRANSFORMATIVE MOVEMENTS.
