THE HBIDRF MAKES FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR DIRECT CONTRIBUTION TO OTHER RECOGNIZED CHARITIES AIMING TO MEET SIMILAR PRIMARY NEEDS AS THE HBIDRF - SHELTER, HEALTHCARE, EDUCATION.

THE HOME BUILDING INDUSTRY DISASTER RELIEF FUND (HBIDRF) HAS PROVIDED GRANTS TO CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE WORKING IN AREAS IMPACTED BY DISASTER. TYPICALLY, THE FUND WORKS WITH LOCAL NAHB MEMBERS AND AFFILIATED HOME BUILDER ASSOCIATIONS TO IDENTIFY CHARITIES AND CHARITABLE PROJECTS TO SUPPORT THROUGH THE HBIDRF.SINCE THIS FUND WAS ESTABLISHED IN 2005, THE HBIDRF BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAS APPROVED OVER $2.2 MILLION IN GRANTS THAT HAVE BEEN USED IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:- HOME BUILDERS INSTITUTE (LA.): TO SUPPORT THE CREATION AND/OR EXPANSION OF JOB TRAINING PROGRAMS IN CARPENTRY, CONCRETE TECHNOLOGIES, ELECTRICAL HVA AND PLUMBING. - THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI FOUNDATION/SCHOOL OF CONSTRUCTION (MISS): TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT AND DISASTER RESPONSE COURSES AND ALTERNATE EDUCATIONAL DELIVERY MECHANISMS. - HOME BUILDERS INSTITUTE (MISS): TO BE USED FOR PACT TRAINING PROGRAM TO TRAIN INDIVIDUALS IN CONSTRUCTION CRAFT SKILLS FOR JOBS IN MISSISSIPPI'S GULF COAST HOME BUILDING INDUSTRY.
