ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT PILOT PROGRAM:HUMANITY FORWARD FOUNDATION JOINED LOCAL PARTNERS IN HUDSON, NY TO LAUNCH AN EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM, PILOTING DIRECT AND STREAMLINED ECONOMIC SUPPORT TO 25 LOCAL LOW INCOME RESIDENTS OVER A FIVE-YEAR PERIOD. THIS PROGRAM WAS DESIGNED TO TEST THE EFFICACY TOWARDS BENEFICIAL OUTCOMES -- SUCH AS REDUCING POVERTY, IMPROVING FINANCIAL SECURITY, INCENTIVIZING WORK, AND STRENGTHENING FAMILIES. IN 2021, PROGRAM RESEARCH REPORTS A 34-PERCENTAGE-POINT INCREASE IN WORKFORCE PARTICIPATION, AND SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENTS REPORTED IN PHYSICAL HEALTH AND FINANCIAL SECURITY.
PAVING THE PATHWAY FOR LOCAL INNOVATION ON ECONOMIC POLICY:HUMANITY FORWARD FOUNDATION IS HELPING CITIES, STATES, AND LOCAL COMMUNITIES TO TEST NEW FINANCIAL INCOME PILOT PROGRAMS TO REDUCE POVERTY, IMPROVE HEALTH OUTCOMES, ENCOURAGE WORK, PROMOTE ECONOMIC PROSPERITY AND SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES. POTENTIAL PILOTS OFTEN REQUIRE COORDINATION WITH AGENCIES SUCH AS THE SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION TO ENSURE EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION WITHOUT PARTICIPANTS LOSING EXISTING BENEFITS.
