THE MADRONA INSTITUTE EXPANDED THE COAST SALISH YOUTH COALITION ADVISORY GROUP TO PROVIDE MORE INTER-TRIBAL COMMUNITY PROGRAMS FOR INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES. THE INSTITUTE CONDUCTED A FOUR-DAY CANOE PADDLE THROUGH THE SAN JUAN ISLANDS FOR 30 INDIGENOUS PADDLERS AND HOSTED A TRADITIONAL CAMAS BAKE ON WHIDBEY ISLAND AS AN INDIGENOUS COMMUNITY CELEBRATION. ALSO HOSTED WAS A "CLIMATE ACTION SPEAKER SERIES", A FOUR-PART SERIES HIGHLIGHTING TOPICS AND CLIMATE EXPERTS INCLUDING JOEL CRESWELL, CHUCK GREENE, PAUL CEREGHINO, VINCE DAUCIUNAS AND JAY KIMBALL. THE INSTITUTE HOSTED THE WOMEN OF COLOR IN LEADERSHIP SPEAKER SERIES FEATURING CHANGE-MAKING WOMEN, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE SAN JUAN ISLAND LIBRARY. THE MADRONA INSTUTUTE ASSISTED IN THE FORMATION OF THE TRIBAL RELATIONS (NE-SCHALECHE, SYA7YA7) ENGAGEMENT GROUP, A COALITION OF LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS DEDICATED TO ALLYSHIP AND SUPPORTING, PROMOTING, AND ELEVATING INDIGENOUS INTERESTS IN THE SALISH SEA, A SUB- GROUP OF THE STEWARDSHIP NETWORK OF THE SAN JUANS.
